This item looks great on the counter but it's hard to cut bagels with it. There is nothing to hold the bagel in place. It's almost as bad as trying to cut a bagel without a bagel cutter.

I initially toyed with making a bagel slicer by myself, but after looking at wooden slicers on-line I chose this one for its great appearance and practical design. Beats stabbing the bagel rim and slicing through it going "around the donut hole". The bagel thickness adjustment via removable inserts is simple and adequate. It would benefit from a "dust cover" and I will make one -- either a cloth "cozy" or a simple wooden "lid".

What a simple little item. Wish I had developed it. lol.......... Works great, always slice bagels and rolls nice and even.

I bought the adjustable slicer, thinking it would be easy and safe for slicing a bagel. With the extra inserts it was indeed easy to adjust for the size of the bagel, but when it came to slicing a bagel with a standard bread knife, it mostly cuts in the holder and not in the bagel. After using it 2 or 3 times, so much wood was cut out that we had to throw it away. An expensive mistake for a poorly designed bagel slicer. It looks good, but it does not function.

you have to remove a slit for larger bagels. When you do that, your bagels are sliced off center which causes them to not fit into your toaster. If you're able to fit a bagel into the slit without removing any of the side slits...then its a fantastic product.

When looking for a bagel slicer, I was surprised to find out just how many types are avaliable now - guillotine types, bread slicer/cutter types, plus the old originals. Then, of course, there was deciding on getting it in plastic, bamboo, metal or wood and from which vendor. I decided on the Acacia bagel cutter because it came from a small American business, and both the vendor and product got great reviews. I was not disappointed. It's a lovely addition to my kitchen and I can tell this is going to last me for decades. It's crafted, not junk. And delivery reminded me of Amazon in the old days - fast, efficient, and arriving in great shape.

This bagel slicer is not only awesome to have for bagels but itβs such a beautiful piece. I tested it on a bagel right away and had no issues. The sides used to cut are perfect to help get that right slice. The bottom has non slip feet that help keep that slicer in place. I worried about my knife cutting through the wood but it did not even make a mark. The wood color is stunning. Iβm so impressed!! This is something I never knew I needed! Great buy!
