Super kitchen tool that provides a level of safety! Be sure to apply the four silicone pads at the bottom to ensure the holder doesn't slide across countertop.

I have always wanted a bagel slicer and this one appealed to me with it's beauty and simplicity. It's easy to use an I always get a perfect cut. I love when both sides of a cut bagel are the same thickness.

Three pretty major design flaws. As many have mentioned, the plastic inserts do not fit. They are too wide for the slots. I suppose I could sand them down, but then I would not be able to return the item because it's damaged. Also, the knife slot is too wide. Unnecessarily wide. Knife moves all over the place. Third issue is the slots are not aligned on the right and left side. So you end up with a crooked slice anyway. I'll be returning it.

Perfect item for a clumsy person (me) who has already sliced into her own thumb with a breadknife... I used to be constantly anxious slicing bagels, so this has given me one thing less to stress about in the morning!

Looks great on the counter top, it's a pity it's as much use as a chocolate tea cup. Can't get the bagel straight, spent way too long adjusting the holding pieces. It as lunch time by the time I could get a cut bagel.

Been using this daily for awhile. The plastic inserts help with different thicknesses but have found that bagels are so big now that need the widest all the time. It is wood and there have been many misses but better the wood than your hands. Because bagels aren't even the cut isn't always in the center but good enough.

I first bought a different slicer that had a blade in a handle to slice down on the bagel. Nice quality, but I order bagels from NY City that are bigger than usual. Had to send the slicer back and get this simpler one. Its much wider, but I use my own bread knife. No problems.

Bought this bagel cutter and I was really looking forward to quick and easy sliced bagels. I set it in the middle and used the plastic inserts to hold it tightly. You have to be super careful not to cut the wooden sides else you've got extra toppings on your bagel. It took longer being careful and cutting than it did just cutting it in my hand. Solid pass on this one.

This is so easy to use and gives you nice even thickness halves. Basic, but so effective

I finally got around to using this. I mostly buy a brand of bagels that are pre-sliced, but occasionally get unsliced ones and finally gave up on slicing them without help from a device like this. Two stars off for two major flaws.1. The idea of making the width adjustable to hold different thicknesses of bagels is great, the execution is not so much. The plastic dough scrapers included to adjust the width are just too wide to slide into the slots properly. Once I take some sandpaper to them they will be fine, but the customer shouldn't have to do alterations to a product to get it to work properly.2. The slot for the knife is wa-a-a-a-y too wide; it's six times wider than the knife I use, which allows for a lot of wobble room. You need a bit of clearance to use the knife properly, and I'm sure knives come in various thicknesses, but mine aren't particularly high quality, so they are likely on the thicker end of the spectrum.I plan to make appropriate alterations to fix these issues, but that shouldn't be something that the customer has to do to make a product work properly.

After writing my review having it posted, for the first time I noticed that a LOT of negative comments and just had to address those. First, you WILL need a LONNNG, serrated, bread knife if you want to do this properly. See the end. Second, when cutting anything (bagel - muffin - etc.) with this, it is not a guillotine and requires a sawing type motion. Much like using a hacksaw, you cut with the "away" or "push" stroke and are simply resetting the knife position when you draw it back towards you. Third, no matter what you are using to cut a bagel, they will always try to roll a bit so stabilize them with your fingers and remember you are cutting the bagel. Nobody likes a red bagel. Last, when you get almost to the bottom, STOP CUTTING!! Even a non-serrated knife is harder than bamboo and serrated knives are like saws. Bamboo shavings don't go well with bagels either. Honestly, if you are having trouble with this you might want to reconsider purchasing pre-sliced whatevers. Yes, even after 60+ years of slicing bagels, it took three or four to perfect the art but like with any good tool, good results are usually based on operator competency.ORIGINAL REVIEW:My normal breakfast is a third of a bagel (bagel, cut in half then into thirds), with onion and chive cream cheese. Since I buy my bagels a dozen at a time, I cut them up and double bag them in freezer bags. I slice a LOT of bagels. With that, I have tried two or three different ways to accomplish this and finally decided to have a metal shop make me a stainless steel bagel holder / slicer of my own design. Even though I knew what was needed, I looked at lots of bagel "slicers" on Amazon for more ideas just in case I could improve on what I had sketched. Then I found this unit. Not quite love at first sight with the green eyed redhead girl of your dreams, but close. This is almost the perfect bagel holder for slicing, not quite as cool as a custom built toy, but many shekels less expensive. YES, buy this if you are in the market. If you do not have a dedicated bread knife, you will need one as an accessory. Don't try to cut bagels with anything else. No sense spending a lot for a knife either. I recommend searching Amazon for HUMBEE B08D3DTGP1 10" - or - HUMBEE B08D3C3ZWS 12". The 12" will work better. Enjoy!
