This “scat mat” works like a charm! I appreciate that it has 3 different modes to choose from (sound only, shock only, sound and shock combined). My dog is deterred by the sound alone so I don’t typically set the shock feature, but I did test it. I wouldn’t say the shock was painful but it was definitely startling. There is about a 10-15 second delay after making contact with the mat before it reacts which is ideal because it allows for repositioning if needed. Also, there was no strange plastic smell that usually comes with any vinyl product. I am giving it 4 stars though because the mat arrived tightly rolled in a compact box and was almost impossible to remove the curl memory. We laid it flat on the hardwood floors and weight the ends down for a week. Within 15 minutes of setting it up on the couch the beeping was going off because it had curled back onto itself. We ended up having to weight it flat with a single large/heavy box for a couple of weeks. I would recommend to the manufacturer that when they package the mat they roll it in the direction that leaves the electronic unit on the outside of the roll. That way any residual curl would be “face down” and would most likely work itself out over time without curling up on itself.

What I like:I've owned a good number of static mats over the years. Most of the designs were okay, and the products performed as Intended.I feel that this product is far superior to my other mats, as it offers more features.I especially like how this mat offers the static, as well as the sound.The mat has no problem remaining flat, even after be rolled-up.The battery life is very good.The size is sufficient for full coverage, and is also available in other sizes!30 second delay!Last, but not least, the product is rechargeable, which is a huge improvement with the technology.What I don't like:Thus far, all is good and there's nothing about the product that I don't like.I like this enough that I've ordered it again, and I'd order more as needed.

I am extremely happy with this cat deterrent mat. The mat arrived with a fully charged rechargeable battery and I was able to utilize it immediately. I own several scat mats and this 'deterrent' mat has features that my scat mats do not. I personally like the thought of not having to hunt for batteries so in the future, when the battery gets low, I don't mind removing the controller to charge it. I think my cats and dogs stay away from these types of mats just by the look of them as they know if the step on one, they will get zapped. I tested the timing of the zapping with the 'noise' feature only (another cool feature this mat offers) and it sounded off literally within a few seconds. Other cool features include the fact that you can adjust the strength of the shocking mechanism and you also can add a sound to the shock as well. The size of this particular mat fits my love seat sofa perfectly. I say this one is a winner!

Upon jumping on my counter like she pays the bills she was in for a nice surprise. With a little delay on shock she had the surprise of her life when she found herself soaring through the air and nearly hitting her head on the ceiling. My only regret is not recording her circus act.

Very effective. It’s easy to put on the couch and roll up quickly, charges quickly and definitely works. In fact, we’ve been experimenting but it seems to work just as well without being turned on. Maybe there is something about the material used that deters our cat? Definitely works better just as a plastic sheet than aluminum foil and looks better. We may resort to the electric zap if needed, but for now we’re just happy it works without.

For whatever reason my cats decided the oven was something they could jump on. One, we are preparing food on it, but two it can be soooo dangerous! One of my cats ended up jumping up right after I turned off a cherry red burner and he seriously burned his paw. My other cat didn’t get the memo and still was jumping up on it. I put this on, low, and he jumped up and shot off. Unlike my other cat who was injured for over a month and $1,200 vet bill, he was offended being shocked and hasn’t jumped back up, since. It’s pretty intimidating when I tested it, it felt powerful on the lowest setting but didn’t linger. I’d fully take this over injury! I’m sure, if the cat could have made a choice, he would have agreed, too.

I’ve had scat mats since they were invented. This is the third brand that I’ve tried. This one works as well as any I’ve had before. It has some conflicting information about cleaning them but it does wipe clean with a damp cloth. So far, the battery life has been great for the last couple weeks. It’s holding its charge and working well. When the weather warms up and I can return my plants to outdoors, I can remove the battery and roll up the mat for storage. The thing with scat mats is that there’s an audible alarm and a static charge shock afterwards. We’ve found that once a cat has gotten the slight shock, they will avoid any similar plastic sheeting, so you don’t have to invest in a lot of scat mats…buy clear plastic sheeting, too. Also, I want to add that the long narrow size works fantastically on the back of sofas to prevent kittens from scratching the sofa top.

I'm really happy with this product. I of course had to try it out....wish I hadn't had it on high at the time! But it works great. It surely got my attention and an exclamation! So I set it up on my counter....on low this time. The next time I went into the kitchen, I found a couple of things knocked over on the counter. But not since that first time! I wish I had witnessed it, but not finding cats on my refrigerator or behind my kitchen TV lets me know it's working. I just haven't decided how long to leave it set up. They're a little expensive to purchase multiple, and I plan on moving it to my stove next.
