I thought about buying a less expensive one, but down in a trench 6 to 7 feet flaring a water line i wanted one to work rightthe first time and not break. what would i have done when the trench was open and it broke, is what i thought. i used it for 3/4 inch (7/8" outside dia.) soft copper. I did 6 flares with it and did not have to redo a flare. it is a well made tool.
