We've been having some crazy temperatures out here and this was exactly what we needed for our pipe outside. The light on the plug is good because it shows us that it's working and it does warm up and it does not damage my pvc pipe.

I received the Heating Tape for Metal And Plastic Home Pipes, Energy-efficient, Self-Regulating Pipe Heat Tape for Water Pipes, Pipe Freeze Protection, Keeps Water Flowing at -40℉, ETL Listed,120V (30FT).WHY I ORDERED THIS:- We live at the far North end of the Idaho panhandle and get a lot of snow, rain and ice in Winter.- For years we struggled with ice dams from frozen rain gutters. The discovery of this type of Heat Cable cord has been a blessing!THE GOOD STUFF ABOUT THIS:- This Electric Heat cable works well. We have had a few Rain, Snow and Freezes already, and this cable has kept the gutters from freezing solid so water and melting snow can still flow.- Pretty easy to lay in the gutters.- You need to plan on how to configure it and where your electrical outlet is.THE NOT SO GOOD STUFF ABOUT THIS:- No Negatives so far.CONCLUSION:- We usually only plug it in when we know the temps are going to drop to freezing or below.- We are very happy with the 30' ft. Heat Tape to use for a shorter rain gutter on the end of our home.

We have a small farm with greenhouses and lots of chickens. We have to run hoses right now to get water to the chicken feeders and this heat tape has been great! We only turn it on when we know temps will drop. It keeps us from having to run buckets of water across the farm. So convenient, easy enough to setup, though working with hose and water lines is always a pain.

If you're a homeowner who has ever experienced a burst water pipe during a freeze, you know that there aren't many repair issues that are so inconvenient. You have to do without water until the issue is fixed. Fixing it can require a long delay and expensive bill, or a difficult and unpleasant repair by yourself in the most uncomfortable of circumstances (ask me how I know). Installing heat tape is a relatively simple "ounce of prevention" job you can do to save yourself the frozen pipe trauma. This tape is fairly heavy, so may not be the easiest for a wrap around pipe application. I'm installing mine in line on the underside of the pipes (for a new external tankless water heater), and then wrapping both with lengths of foam tubing-type pipe insulation. If you do this, get the foam tubing in a larger size than the pipe, so it will enclose both pipe and wire. On 3/4" copper tubing, I'm using 1" foam tube insulation, and closing it with foil-backed duct-sealing tape. The tape has a light-up plug that shows it's getting power, and it has a thermostat so it only heats if the temperature approaches freezing. This saves electricity and likely extends the life of the unit. Get this, install it, and worry less this winter.

If you have a house that doesn’t retain heat very well. Or a basement that isn’t finished. These are necessary. I’ve been worried about myPipes freezing every year as winter approaches. Now I don’t have too. These are extremely well made and it comes in thirty ft span which was more than enough for my small house.

I think the price is right for this cable. It's not super high quality but I think it will get the job done.It comes well packaged and has good clear instructions. There is a little glowing lamp inside the plug so you can see if it's energized, nice touch. The only thing that looks a little sketchy to me is the termination on the end. You can see it in my hand. It just doesn't look well sealed. I can't say for certain that it will fail or last a long time. It just doesn't feel great to me. It could be fine.Overall, it's a good product and I would get it again.
