I ordered this heater blanket for backup use, and I was glad I did. We have some heat tape on our most vulnerable water pipes that has thermostatic control, but the faucet furthest away is in a seldom used upstairs half bath. I plugged this in and wrapped the pipes under the sink in the half bath when we had a couple of weeks of nighttime temps at or near zero, gave me peace of mind if nothing else. I don’t think this heater blanket is the best choice for long term use, no thermostat on it, so it stays on all the time if you don’t unplug it. Works best as a more portable solution for temporary use.

I have been having problems ever since I bought my home because the washing machine drain pipe runs along on outside wall (in Wisconsin). I've tried expanding foam, insulation, and other ineffective things. I bought these, installed them on the outside of the pipe and they fit pretty well except around the p-trap. I connected both to a gfci surge protector so I could turn the warmers off when temperatures are above freezing. So far, so good. No flooding in my laundry room, manually draining the washing machine or pouring salt and hot water down the pipe to break up the frozen water. Finally, a solution that works, I hope they last!

Worked great on my frozen pvc kitchen drain. Waaaaay cheaper than other models.. no thermostat so just unplug when not needed or buy a separate cheap thermostat cord

These are wonderful piper heaters! Our hydrant in front of our barn is super important for the care of our animals. Every year we fight to keep it from freezing up and usually end up failing and having to bucket water from our house all the way back out across the field to the barn and then having to take a torch to the pipe to unfreeze it. We have tried other pipe wrap heaters and wrapping the pipe to keep it from freezing, but they still will freeze up in extreme weather. We had a - temp week with the worst hitting -15 with the real feel of -30 over night this and the pipes did not freeze! I was so excited to have running water with no issues in those temps. Before that super cold spell I had already been impressed with how warm the heat wraps were, but that was the icing on the cake for me.Why I think these work so much better:The heating element is encased in the wrap itself and the material in the wrap is well insulated and reflective. The wrap is easily attached around the exposed pipe and secured with velcro to help keep in around the pipe. The wrap is pretty narrow and I actually had to connect the two wraps together to fit around our hydrant pipe which wasn't a huge deal. I also didn't have a splitter in the barn so only have 1 of the 2 wraps plugged in and it is still super warm and works good enough to withstand multiple days of negative weather. My only negatives:The kit came with zip ties to help secure the wrap further, but the ties are not made for any type of remotely cold weather. I think it was in the 20s when I put all this on the hydrant and the zip ties broke before I even got to tightening them. I always have zip ties in the barn so it was an easy fix.All in all, I LOVE these pipe heater!

This is an impartial review of "2Pack Heat Tape for Water Pipes(38.5”x 6”), 110V/120V Electric Pipe Heater Blanket Max Heating Temp 120˚F, Waterproof PU Coating Pipe Heat Tape, Aluminum Foil Freeze Protection Pipe Heater" and applies to this specific product only.-I found these pipe heating blankets to be easy to use and effective. Unfortunately with the recent January Sub-Zero cold snap I've had plenty of opportunity to use this product for repair work, mostly thawing out frozen shutoff valves ahead of frozen, ruptured pipes and then later the damaged pipes themselves.Patience is needed when compared to a high wattage heat gun, but this product worked quite well nonetheless to thaw larger lengths of pipe simultaneously.Using fasteners and some strips of hook and loop wraps I was even able to successfully thaw a length of 2" frozen pipe. 👍The big downside with this product is that it does not have a thermostat, which means that as-is it needs to be monitored continuously while in use. I purchased a pair of plug-in outlet thermostats to accompany these heat blankets, and then socketed those thermostat plugs into Wi-Fi Smart plugs, giving me even more control and the ability to monitor when the thermostats have activated.-The pipe heater blankets seem to be manufactured with good quality control; the materials in the product I received looked to be well assembled and were without any obvious defects. Even before use they gave the impression of being a well made product. I think that this is a very good value at under $15 per pipe heating blanket

These meet the basic requirements of " plug it in and it gets hot", and "I can sorta wrap it around a pipe" but I found them difficult to use and there are definitely better options. These wraps are only about 6 inches wide, so they only just barely wrap a 1 inch pipe by the time you account for the overlap needed for the velco. I have fittings on the pipes I needed to wrap and the width of these wraps isn't sufficient to go all the way around the thickness of the fittings. Additionally, the zip ties included are just barely long enough to wrap around and I had to provide my own longer zip ties to secure these wraps around fittings. They also get much hotter than they really need to in order to prevent pipes from freezing, but given that I couldn't wrap them tightly the excessive heat was probably necessary. A thermostatic control would certainly make these better, but even then they'd still be of limited usefulness. If you have long, thin pipes that you need to keep from freezing these would be great, but for most residential use cases, these are barely okay. I'll continue questing for a better solution...
