The Alophoty garage door seal kit has been a welcome addition to our 12ft wide, 10ft tall sliding shop door. Installation was quick and easy, even in less-than-ideal conditions—34°F temperatures and gusty winds during setup.Material & Build Quality:The seal material feels like a synthetic-based rubber, with a thickness just shy of 1/8”—comparable to other garage seals I’ve worked with. It’s thick enough to resist wind pressure while remaining flexible, even in freezing temperatures. Cutting it to size was effortless using standard general-purpose scissors.Installation & Adhesion Highlights:✔ Strong adhesive backing—sticks firmly to the metal door frame.✔ Easy application—but precision matters! Once applied, removal and repositioning are difficult, even in cold weather.✔ Held up perfectly despite challenging installation conditions.Performance – Blizzard Tested! The day after installation, we were hit by a blizzard with 65 MPH wind gusts. The seal’s performance was nothing short of amazing. Earlier this winter, a similar storm left a 15 square foot area inside the shop covered with 4 inches of snow—enough that I had to shovel it out. With this seal installed, not a single snowflake made it inside. Even in high-speed gusts, there wasn’t enough airflow to blow out a candle or lighter near the door edges.Final Verdict:The Alophoty garage door seal kit is a great value for the price. It effectively keeps out the elements, even in severe weather, and appears durable enough to last through freezing conditions. If you need to seal a garage or shop door, this is absolutely worth considering.

As you can see in the photos my old garage door seal had gotten brittle and was breaking/tearing. I saw this and decided to give it a go. For some reason I was expecting the product to be a bit more robust. Looking at the product photos it is clear it is just a seal strip. I removed my old molding seals and used them to measure and cut the new ones to length. They stuck well during installation. I would have hated to use all those screws to hold it in place so cut the old brittle seal off my molding and reinstalled over the top of the new seal using nails. Works great. Giving it four stars because I do not believe this is a complete solution on its own or at least it was not for me. The same molding I replaced was $12.68 per 9 feet. I would have needed 4 of those. Versus buying what I had and the work to install properly I think this could be a little cheaper since it is just the seal and no molding.

Sealing a 16' garage door is a fairly tricky job, despite all appearances to the contrary, so when this popped up, I had to give it a try.First off, the material is WAY more supple and easy to work with than most garage door seals, making installation against a somewhat recessed door very easy - the seals pressed agains the door nicely despite being a fair way away.Secondly, the self adhesive feature, which I hadn't even thought of before, is actually REALLY handy - it keeps the seal in place long enough to get it properly affixed - a real time saver!Thirdly - the hardware supplied is great. Screws instead of nails, with caps too? Amazing! So, whilst it's weird to even really have an opinion on something as banal as a garage door seal, this one really is head and shoulders above the others I've used in the past. That it's also very competitively priced makes it a no-brainer - this is THE one to get!

After years of sun exposure, the weather seal around my garage doors had become brittle and cracked (see review photos) so I was happy to find this garage door weather seal kit.I was concerned that this product would be stiff and flimsy like the types available in the big box stores. It arrived in a fairly tight roll, so I assumed I would need to lay it out in the sun to un-stiffen, I was pleasantly surprised by its flexibility. At 68 °F (20 °C), I measured and average of 65.75 HA. [The Shore Hardness A scale is used for measuring soft rubber, plastics, and rubber-like elastomers, and this number falls into the upper end of the medium soft range, roughly midway between a baby bottle nipple and a rubber shoe sole.] Despite its flexibility, the seal was much thicker than the brittle seal it was replacing. When a warm(er) day came along, I jumped at the chance put this product into service before the cold and windy weather returned. After removing the original nailed-on trim/seal and cleaning the area, I cut pieces of the new seal to rough length and began the installation. I assumed that the peel and stick adhesive would be marginally acceptable for holding the weather strip in place while I added the screws, but again I was pleasantly surprised to find that the adhesive held tenaciously. I added the screws for a belt-and-suspenders approach. The adhesive held so well that when I wobbled a bit going around the outdoor keypad, I was unable to reposition the seal. While I consider this a good thing, be careful to get it where you want it before it contacts the door frame. The self-drilling screws were easy to install without pre-drilling, and they had no problem penetrating the metal wrapped pressure treated wood frame. The decorative caps gave and instant, finished look. No caulk required! While I started working alone, I did find that a second pair of hands made applying the adhesive backed material perfectly straight a bit easier.I have to admit that I had fairly low expectations when I ordered this product, but I was extremely pleased with how well it worked and the greatly improved sealing it provided. I was surprised that when I closed the garage door, I could barely hear the heat pump running just outside. Nice. I will be ordering more for another garage door. If your garage has no seal around the door, or the original seal has long since seen better days, I highly recommend this product. It is easy to install, seals well, and gives a good finished look.
