I purchased it in fall 2023. It worked fine that winter. I just took it out of the shed for this winter since the weather just turned cold enough. It kept popping the GFCI outlet by the pond even though the pump rarely trips it. I ran it to a different GFCI outlet on a different circuit with a good extension cord and it kept popping that one too. I expected it to last more than one season.

We replaced the prior heater, it failed to turn off. The water was like a hot bath. It almost emptied the bond after a few very windy below zero days.I looked the other day and there was about a two foot hole in the ice at heater and another at the bubbler. The rest of the pond was iced over.Want the water cool so the fish almost hibernate.

This is the third one of these we have purchased (after trying another brand that failed). The ice free area varies depending upon the temperature but it is enough to keep toxic gases from building up. Vital for fish, as well as providing a water source for the critters.Experience has shown that this lasts about four years.

Got the first freeing of my pond . And I most certainly say I am now concern’s will be in the week’s to come cause there’s only line 1/2 a inch at best around the green disk ice heater and the ice is not very thick at all it’ only fell below -6 at night. What’s going to happen when the colder days set it? Don’t waist your money. I will be buying a better one now that I see this .

This pond deicer is working great so far. It only keeps a small spot open on a frozen pond, but if it gets warm enough outside can completely thaw it.I haven't had much luck with deicers from several different manufacturers now, they only seem to last 2 years maximum. I'm hoping this one can show more longetivity.

Took 2 days to thaw it's way through 4" of ice.Keeping vent hole open. Great! Just wish power cord was on top.

Exactly what I wanted for my small pond to keep a patch of water unfrozen for the birds in my yard. The 200W power consumption makes it economical to leave on and easy to control with a timer if necessary.

We had freezing temps the last few days here in upstate NY. My 130 gallon fish pond was frozen a few inches deep. I could see my fish swimming around underneath the ice. I received the de-icer and placed it in the pond this afternoon. It was sitting on the ice, under the pond bridge. I just went outside with a flashlight to check on it and the ice is completely melted under it, the saucer is floating and the fish are hanging out under it. The rest of the pond is frozen. So far, so good! UPDATE 12/6/19: I love it! My pond is frozen with lots of snow and this de-icer keeps the area around it ice free. I can see the fish moving around under it. Because it works so well, I won't be so worried about losing koi due to the pond freezing solid. Two thumbs up for this product!

I bought this in October of 2017 to use in my pond this winter. It is a complete piece of junk and quit working after 45 days. Stay away from this one. Because I am overly cautious and didn't want to lose my fish I had a backup heater in the pond as well. It is a Thermo-pond 3.0 and works great, it always did a better job of keeping an opening in the pond ice even when the PS-200 was allegedly working correctly. I would give it less than 1 star if I could. Bad product!

So far so good, but this winter has been far warmer than last year, when my previous De-Icer failed. I believe it was the same model but it was about 4 years old and last year was a record breaker for cold and snow fall amounts.

Ordered this product after reading reviews. I saw a cold spell approaching for Indianapolis, IN and i was concerned about my small backyard pond freezing over. Thanks to Amazon Prime and two day delivery, I received just in time, Dec. 8th, 2016. Today is December 15th, 2016 and we've had a week of below freezing temps with a few days only in the teens and overnight lows down to 3°F. My little pond has done well with the pond heater keeping a circular hole open. The ice is around 3" thick everywhere. You may notice in my photos that the small waterfall feature is still running. That has helped keep the pond "open" also, but I'm sure within the next day or two, that also will freeze over, leaving only the hole created by the heater. My one small Koi and few goldfish will do fine thanks to this neat little product. I have the 200W model.1 year later and still works. Here in Indianapolis, we just broke a record for the longest stretch of temperatures never going above 20°F at 11 days and counting. Incredible cold and lasting a long time. Cold like would be normal for Canada. This little heater continues to keep my koi pond open despite being completely frozen over with 6" ice. Highly recommend. Also added new photos from this year.2 years later... Another cold spell arriving next week with temps forecast to go as low as -20°f. I placed the heater in my pond as it skimmed over with ice this evening and checked on it one hour later. It wasn't working. I'll have to investigate why it quit later, but for now... I just order another one! It works fine even if only one or two seasons, well worth the money.

I really liked it at first, worked great keeping my small pond from freezing over, but when I went to plug it in this winter, it wouldn't work and it had a leak. contacted company and they shipped me a new one after I sent this one back. product seems to work good first yr then die. but the company is awesome. no problems with them at all.I would like to add, i found out that if you keep the back end of this heater slightly out of water, maybe balance on a small rock or the pond plants, then you will have (no) problems. by keeping the area out of water where the cord joins the heater,it works great, my second one worked right off this yr when plugged in
