My pond was frozen over, temperature was 17 degrees and falling, I purchased this heater to save my koi fish, it worked great in less than 8 hours my pond was clear of ice, it seems to be very durable, easy to use, and definitely a great value for the money.

I was searching for a heater for the pond I built in my yard (the picture posted) (pond is 4ftx3ft with a depth of the deepest part being 4ft and the shallowest being 2ft)So I am a new resident to North Carolina, a CA native, so when I built the pond I didn’t take into consideration how cold the winters here got so I never planned to need or have a heater.Once I put some small fish in my pond, and once 3 large frogs moved in, I came to think of the cold months approaching and decided to buy a heater. After searching through Amazon, I was surprised how much of an eye sore many of them where, most being large bright red floating balls. I was also surprised that heaters for large ponds are a dime a dozen while small pond heaters aren’t much of a thing, with the lack of options I even started considering a larger indoor fish tank heater to use ( but decided against it knowing its a bad idea to use an indoor electronic outdoors)Thankfully I found this heater ! I will admit, I was skeptical due to the price difference from this one compared to most others, as this was the most budget friendly. I also took noticed how much it looked different than the others, this one is submerged while others float atop, but I personally liked the idea and look of this one better, due to my pond being small, anything floating on top would take up a lot of the space.Despite my skepticism, I purchased it anyways and put it to work.I intentionally took my time before leaving a review as I wanted to ensure the product worked for awhile and not just for the first month. So I purchased and had this item delivered on August 17, 2024, I am leaving this review Jan 22, 2025 -and this heater is still functioning as I need it too! This winter has been the COLDEST here in years, I live in an area which typically doesn’t have snow fall but in December we did and again we did it January. I was concerned that if the heater itself didn’t stop working that maybe the cords may malfunction from such cold (if even possible) but that had not been the case.Despite it being 18 degrees outside right now as I type this, I went and dipped my hand in the water and it felt nice, definitely not cold, not hot, but warm, definitely the warmest water outside I know that.I have 2 large female frogs who have made the pond home last summer (carpenter frogs) and one small male carpenter frog, typically carpenter frogs (like most frogs) would overwinter during the cold months, hibernating at the bottom until it gets warm again and I fully expected that to happen, but to my surprise the two females have chosen to stay active these cold months, though I haven’t seen them outside of the pond, I see them on a regular basis floating on top until the dart to the bottom when they see me, so that alone shows how the heater is keeping the water warm -warm enough for the frogs to opt out of overwintering. All my fish are also choosing to not overwinter, 4 gold fish and a ton of little minnows, all living their best life in these ice cold months. The pond has never froze on the top, and I chose to not unplug the pump for winter since that’s how oxygen is circulating which is needed for everything to stay alive, and that as well has not been an issue since the heater has kept the water consistently warm, the pump has not had the chance to freeze up at any point.I was very worried about the heater giving out at some point, as that would cause a ripple effect by allowing the pump to freeze therefore not oxygenating the water, as well as the top of the pond to freeze over, all which could potentially lead to all the life’s in the pond dying which would be not only sad but traumatic so I’m so grateful that has not been the reality and this heater has came through as needed and expected. I would 110% recommend for anyone with a smaller pond

I don’t know the lifespan of this heater; however, I put it in my 275 gallon tank. Received it in January and it quit working the middle of March. Seems like a waste of money. And did a great job the first week or two because I was checking my water to make sure it was where it needed to be. But now I feel like I’m out $35 bucks. And now that I’m out of the 30 day window, I feel like I’m stuck.

It works ok on 300 gallon pond. I am zone 7a and Lowest water temp I saw was 45 in 25 ambient while running bog filter. it broke when i lost water and it shorted out after cord got caught and it was hanging in 25F air overnight. I reorder cause cheap and expect it to last 2 years which makes it the same price as a premium item

Absolutely Love This Heater!$! I Have Gone Through So Many Heaters And Multiple Heaters In My Pond But Nothing This Good. Keeps The Whole Pond At 69 Degrees And As You Can See The Fish Love It There Active Even When It Should Be Totally Frozen. The Indicator Light Is Very Helpful. You Just Put The Floats On That Are Included And Plug It In And Throw It In. True Plug And Play Set It And Forget It. Best Heater Ever Price Is Amazing. Definitely Purchase This You Won't Regret It I Promise. Way Way Way WORTH The Money. No More Temp Adjusting Or Over Heating... Love It And The Fish Do As Well... Thank You For Making My Life Easier 😃

I bought the 300w one so as not to use too much electricity, but wondered if it would work at all.Have a 700 plus gallon pond in my back yard with goldfish.Turned it on the day before the bad weather was coming.Three days straight below freezing in the teens, and only small areas of ice.Of course this is Texas, and we will be back in the 60's in a couple more days, but it certainly helped.
