I had an electrician install this, but it failed to power on. So I returned this and bought a Honeywell with similar features, it costs more, but is working fine. I guess you get what you pay for.

PRO: easy to install and most importantly, does not require a neutral wire. Also easy to program.CON: hard to read without good ambient light; too easy to accidentally activate when closing the flap door; programming is not user-friendly (no daylight saving button; no rapid advancement of time, etc).REMEMBER TO WAIT 1-2 MIN AFTER INSTALLATION BEFORE THE DISPLAY WILL APPEAR

Note- this timer does not need a white neutral wire which is great for older homes built 20+ years ago. But it does need a ground wire usually bare copper in the box or some workarounds like attaching to the metal box. If your box is plastic, not sure how you will get ground. It works well, has more time slots than I need, has program for 5 days of week and separate for Sat and Sun. My old one did not survive a winter in an unheated house despite trying to reset so beware of that.Comes with twisty connectors, complicated instructions, and works accurately even with my LED bulbs. Just use a flashlight to see the display and wait two minutes or more after connecting for the display to come on when first giving it juice. If you don't see display, use a flashlight. It's there but faint.

My home was built in 1972 and does not have a lead wire running through all of the wiring. The Enerlites only requires a ground wire besides the black & white wires. Once installed, this unit has a lot of nice features. You can program up to 18 on and off times per day which is more than anyone needs. Combine this with the variation of days to program (individual days, week days, weekends or all 7 days) and this will power on whenever you need it to. Once you have it programmed the way you want it, you can change the mode to manual so it ignores the programming all together. This comes in handy for halloween when you want your house to look dark to avoid trick-or-treaters. I know. That is mean but handy. I have mine set-up to illuminate the driveway lights dusk to dawn for security. When I get home from work late, the driveway is lit up for me. Also, you can easily turn it on or off by pressing the front cover no matter if the unit is in manual or auto (program) mode. I hooked one of these up for my parent's house as well. Their house was built in 1958. Works great there too. This unit has a built-in rechargeable battery to protect your programming in case of a power outage. No need to replace old, worn-out batteries. This is a great product!

I was nervous as i saw some reviews saying instructions were poorly transcribed to english. I didn’t even need to look at them. If you can set up a typical digital sprinkler timer or a digital pool timer then it’s intuitive as they all the same. Just need to see the instructions on which physical buttons to click. Only problem i had was it kept resetting and screen blanked. My internal wires are off color so all it was is hot and load swapped. Obviously don’t sxrew up your ground (green ground). So if you get it set up and it comes on and then goes dead it’s cause battery took over… you just got your black and red wire swapped (typical for a in/off wall switch in some poor house wire jobs). Works like a charm. Also the wire nuts and plate included so worth it.

Great switch and very easy to install. No need to run a separate wire just need to know how to connect everything properly in the switch box! I used this on my DIY grow light since most timers don't fully shut off the LED and they stay dim when suppose to be off (both mechanical and digital type). This switch works perfectly thanks to the neutral line connection and was easy to use and program as long as you FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! Highly recommend for led bulbs. Also has internal battery backup so your timer settings stay during a power outage.

I used this switch when installing a whole-house fan, and it works wonderfully to control the the motor. I plan on installing more of them for the outside/porch lights. I like the features and design better than anything I could find in local stores.Programmable Features: It is very easy to program, and the instructions are straightforward. The display is easy to read. It also gives you plenty of time to make your selections before automatically returning to the main display (I think 10 seconds for each button). The plastic door on the front doubles as the manual on/off override switch, which is nice.Construction: The switch seems well-built. The housing, face plate, screen, and buttons are sturdy and look like they'll withstand decades of use.Installation: It took me 3 minutes to install the switch. The switch doesn't have screw lugs but has the wires extending from the case to where you wire nut them directly to the box wires. The wiring is typical (black, white, red, green) and the schematic is clear. I read some reviews and questions complaining about not knowing what the different colored wires mean or what to do if the box doesn't have a neutral. Those reviews terrify the heck out of me considering those users have no business doing any kind of residential electrical work if they don't know basic universal wire insulation colors, don't know how to read a schematic, don't know what "hot" and "load" mean, and don't know how to fish a neutral into the box. Call an electrician before you burn down your house and kill someone.Overall, it's an excellent switch for the price.
