My first EGO product. Needed a “chainsaw on a stick” to trim limbs along fence-row on farm, but the gas ones were just too heavy. This one, although not exactly light weight, is much lighter and better balanced than traditional gas ones. Was blown away with the power, battery life, and ease of cutting. So much quieter than gas with no fumes.

Compared to gas powered, it's pretty light and convenient for my needs. Not gonna use it a lot so that's why I went battery route. Also had other ego products sitting around. Like the carbon fiber shaft, but haven't handled the regular ego non cf product to see it's weight difference. The extended length is good but felt a little heavy. I had a hard time with the strap thoughwhen extended or I'm just not well versed in finding the right length. Cut as it's supposed to though with no issues cutting trim limbs. I got it on sale so happy with the product. Felt pretty sturdy when not extended. It was just a little heavy otherwise when extended and took a little bit more concentration and balancing.

Product is very good. Light enough that it is easy to handle at full extension with the optional extender installed. Surprisingly powerful.The only con is customer service. This is my second unit. The first one was damaged and needed the section with the saw replaced. Contacted EGO directly and they couldn't help me and referred me to a certified repair facility. Contacted a few repair facilities and none were interested since it wasn't warranty work. Ended up having to buy an entire new unit.

Been waiting to buy a dedicated pole saw with a carbon fiber shaft to deal with my wooded property in northern New England. while I liked the concept of interchangeable heads of the multi-tool version that Ego has had out for a while, I prefer dedicated tools optimized for each job. So I was happy when the 1001 came out, and even happier when I could grab the kit for $100 off during the last Black Friday sale. Put this to work right after I received it. Easily assembled, and I will just say that it works awesome. It cut through branches like butter, did not run out of oil, did not jam, the straight bar (vs angled bar of Dewalt and some others) worked just fine. There was plenty of weight on the branch as you are keeping the entire saw at an angle when you engage the branch. Rigidity of the carbon fiber was excellent. Battery life was adequate to good, the manageable weight of the carbon fiber shaft especially when used with the extension, was appreciated. I would have liked to have gotten a larger battery than a 2.5Ah the kit came with. Overall I am very happy with this product, it appears to be the new best-in-class for electric pole saws. I paid for this product with my own money and am receiving nothing in return for this review.

I used to own a B&D pole saw. It was a toy compared to the Ego. This cruises through the cuts with ease and has the same quality that the Ego products are known for. Not cheap but still well worth the cost.

Great polesaw. I have an old small orchard and I've been able to easily operate this for hours performing long overdue pruning. This saw is well designed and built, making it easy to maintain and operate.

Overall this saw is not bad. PROS: cuts brush easily, battery charges quickly and lasts a long time, the extended pole makes cutting high or low convenient, the chain is easy to reinstall if it jumps the track. CONS: most of the pole features - I am tall so the too short strap harness is useless for carrying it, the handle spins because the locking nut does not hold it in place making it useless as well, the battery is heavy saw using the saw for extended periods of time is tiring.
