This is a lifesaver for keeping kitty out of my indoor plants, and outdoor raised beds. It's plastic, so it won't hurt him, but the look and feel of the spikes keeps him from trying to dig. I will definitely be using this autumn and winter as well to keep squirrels from digging up my tulips. The roll is very easy to cut and pieces can be easily fitted to whatever you want to cover. I also like that it comes with pegs to help secure larger pieces in place. Very well recommended product!

I thought I had tried everything…until I came across this. Nothing had worked! I had cats using my vegetable garden as their litter box, and I’m just thinking that’s not the prescribed fertilizer to grow my food in. I put this in my garden a week ago and have not had a single cat incident since. Woo hoo! This is reasonably priced, easy to install, and cuts with simple scissors.

How to flatten the rolling anti cat mat
1. Due to the roll packaging method we use to facilitate transportation. It presents a cylindrical shape and is difficult to flatten(Above photo is only a small cut piece for users to understand how it will be when unpacked.
2. Vtedu will provide the users 8 staples for each roll of cat deterrent mat. The users can staple beginning of the mat
of the roll by 2 staples first, then spread the roll......Then staple the 2nd points at 2.17 ft from the beginning. then the 3rd at 4.34 ft...till the end. The users can fix the mat flat on the lawn or soil by staples
3. If users are very concerned about this, they can purchase our other square version. It is packaged with multiple flat pieces, so there is no problem of unevenness. This product will be launched in the near future, and if there is an urgent situation, it can be purchased from other stores.
How to flatten the cat deterrent mat where there is no lawn or soil for fixing staples
Flatten the anti cat mat by reverse rolling

2. When the users put to on sofa, table or some other places where the staples can not be used, the users can reverse roll the cat deterrent mat but not so tightly to avoid excessively folding causing destroy by hands (Vtedu suggests users to wear gloves to protect their hands)
3. The reverse-rolled mats will become flat after a few hours. (Above photo is only a small cut piece for users to understand how it will be after reverse rolling.）

I had high expectations for this product, however my kitten simply walked right over it. The "spikes" were ineffective. Plus since it came rolled up, it was difficult to flatten it to place on surfaces.

It's plastic that comes rolled up so need to possibly flatten. Now, it helps to train and deter a pet, but at over $20 it is on the pricey side.

I use these mats to stop neighborhood cats from using my garden as their bathroom. The mat can be cut with scissors to the size you need. Overall, I like the mat.

VTEDU Cat Bed Mat Indoor & Outdoor, Cat Deterrent Mat Cat Repellent Mat, Cat Scat Mat(6.5ft), Scat Mats for Dogs - Cat Spikes with 8 Staples for Garden, BlackI got these to use inside on my long desk where my cats had been jumping on when no one was home during the day. I wouldn’t mind except they would leave dirt and hair which I did not want on my desk. This comes rolled up so it will tend to want to roll back up when you unroll it. Overnight, I just placed two heavy books on each end and after a week or two, it didn’t want to roll up quite as much.It did deter my cats, although one time, I saw one gingerly walk on the 2-inch uncovered space next to it, but he did not have anywhere to really get comfortable, so he didn’t stay. It comes with little metal stakes so that if you were to use it outside you can anchor it to the ground like you would a camping tent.After using this for a couple weeks, I ended up with my late mother’s scat mats. These were little 10”x 8”-ish squares that were much more rigid than this one that came rolled up. I used those in conjunction with this one to cover empty spots. I also used them on my mouse cages which worked better than the rolled up version.Overall, I think it’d be good for outdoor use as well since it has the stakes. It works OK, but can be cumbersome to take on and off while trying not to knock over pen holders. It’s not bad, and the spikes are not deadly razor-sharp like I read on reviews from other similar products, so for that I’m glad. I would recommend getting two though because the width isn’t very wide, and if your cat is like mine, it may still be able to walk on any narrow space alongside the roll.

I used this to keep my indoor cat off of the couch after I deep cleaned it. The roll is decently long, and covered the two seater sections of my couch (a second one was needed for the chaise). It works well in keeping the cat off, but it is a bit of a hassle when first unrolled. The mat wants to stay rolled, and it is difficult to get it flat when you aren't able to stake the corners down. I lightly hit it with a heat gun to persuade the roll to stay flat.
