Did the trick. Was watching my daughter's cat, and she urinated on the couch. Found these and they deter her from jumping on the couch. They can be stacked and put under the couch when we aren't cat sitting. Perfect solution

Been having one of my cats pee on the rubber mat my elliptical sits on in the utility room. No matter what I did, it didn't deter him. So, I ordered this and put it all around the base of the elliptical and he hasn't ventured onto it. Or maybe he has and I wasn't there to see. BUT, he stays off. Unfortuntately I haven't learned as well and have stepped onto it a couple of times barefoot. BIG mistake. Doesn't puncture the skin, but hurts like crazy. Does its job well.

My new furniture is safe from the dog as long as I remember to put on the mats. The clear ones are almost invisible. It’s easy to stack the mats and slide them under the couch when people are over to visit.

Sure they are a pain to set up every time we leave the house and hope one day she will learn not to jump on the couch and we won't have to use them anymore but we installed a camera to monitor and found that if we don't put them on the couch, she jumps right up when we leave (sneaky dog). We are working on training her but she comes from a previous house where she was allowed on furniture so the classic - you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Would highly recommend for anyone who is trying to train an animal, these work great!

Worked perfectly for me. Had an issue with a neighborhood cat climbing on the railing outside my apartment, and "fighting" with my cat through the window. You can see the destroyed screen in the photo.It got so bad that it became a nightly occurrence, and I got mad one night at 2am and hit the window with my hand, scaring my cat, which promptly turned and attacked me. I didn't know a house cat could take down a 6ft man, but he did. I almost went to the emergency room the bites were so deep.Anyway, that was the last straw. I ordered these the next day, and installed 3 with some zip ties on the railing.Finally the nightmare is over. The neighborhood cat came to the landing outside my door one time, looked at the spikes on the railing, and hasn't come back since. It's been about 3 months now, and they have held up well. They look just like they did the first day. And no more cat problems. I thought he might start testing them for weaknesses like jurassic Park and eventually find a way, but I haven't even seen him come up the steps since the first day.

I bought these to keep our new cat off of our dining room table, and a shelf in the living room. Georgie had gotten up on the living room shelf in the night, and knocked everything off ... EVEN ALEXA! We didn't find her until morning. Apparently Amazon needs to add a new Alexa skill: "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!"And his other favorite place to play in the dark is our dining room table.As you can see in the photo, these mats are less than daunting. First, there aren't enough for our table (the one on the shelf works). Even if I added the one from the living room, I would need 2 more. I crinkled some heavy duty foil to put in the gaps. That worked much better, as it didn't move.BUT, Georgie quickly realized he could just tap them over a bit, or push them off onto the floor, get up on the edge of the table, then bounce over.These mats don't come with anything to keep them in place — they need little suction cups. I tried to roll up painter's tape to hold them in place, but it didn't stick to them. They do, however, work on human feet very well!In all, I don't know if I'll order more for the table. I'll probably try to find some that have something to hold them in place.UPDATE - I returned them today. They're useless on smoothe surfaces.

I was hesitant to believe the reviews which said the product didn’t work very well but after trying it, I can see how it doesn’t. I witnessed a squirrel walk right across it, and later on, a cat did the same. The other reviews which said the product is lightweight and flimsy are correct. A good wind could blow it around my concrete patio. Perhaps each of the plastic squares could be secured if they were set on top of the soil in a garden? Possibly, but that is not how I needed to use them. They are made of lightweight, brittle plastic. The little spikes seem to be sharp, but the product is so flimsy the spikes became smashed. (See photo.). Each plastic square is small, and they move around very easily and separate from one another, unless you can find a way to tie them together. If you need them to cover a large area, you have to buy several units, which will end up costing you a lot. I found this item to be very pricey for what it is and not durable at all. I had to buy enough to make a particular area of my patio critter-proof and this proved to be expensive, useless, and ultimately a waste of money. They are being returned. (I’m disappointed as wanted it to work so badly!)

Other reviewers' concern about price is valid, but comments on "thin plastic" are off base. The plastic used is ideal. It's very strong and doesn't crack or rip. Its flexibility is an asset allowing it to contour to different surfaces. It won't tear but can be easily cut with a scissors to fit in any space. For outdoor uses where wind is a factor, it has pre-punched holes so it can be staked down. Cats learn fast to avoid it. We have an adjustable platform bed and the mechanism could inadvertently crush any cat who's crawled under the bed. We created a Scat Mat perimeter by cutting strips and various shapes, and used double-stick carpet tape to fasten it. The cat never ventures into the mechanism.
