I’ve not seen any little presents left by the neighbours cats since putting down the mat.

This is exactly what I needed to help deter the cats in our neighborhood from using my landscaping as their litter box!Our neighbor had two outdoor cats which decided my landscaping around my front door and dining room windows was their litterbox. The allowed their cat to have yet another litter and the new kitties had joined their siblings in roaming across the yard to my house to relieve themselves. The smell was so bad that I was embarrassed when people came to my door on Halloween. Something needed to be done.I don't want to hurt the cats, I just need them to want to go somewhere else. I think it is irresponsible to send cats out into the world to kill wildlife, but it is ten-fold an issue to do so with unneutered/un-spayed cats! I have researched options for a few years. Topical solutions such as sprays, powders, etc are temporary. You have to reapply every time it rains and they have the potential to affect your plants as well as other animals who should be residing in your garden. I collected pinecones and sweetgum balls to scatter in the area where I want to keep significant amounts of mulch (the places the cats loved to do their business the most) this actually did a fantastic job of moving the cats! However, they found places between the bushes and near the house to go potty....This is PERFECT for those areas. The best thing about this stuff is it comes on a roll, so it is ideal for putting a strip along the foundation of my home where the cats like to creep behind the bushes. It can be rolled right over the top of the mulch and staked down. When I am ready to add mulch in the spring I can pull it up and put it right back down again. The black mesh look of the product is virtually invisible against my dark mulch from several feet away. The roll can easily be cut in any way you need to place it around your garden. There are little clips for attaching pieces together built right into the roll. You simply snip them off with a scissor or wire cutter. There are instructions on the label (the English is not perfect, but I could understand it just fine.)The spines are firm, they poked my fingers as I opened the roll and it didn't feel good. My cat was not interested in touching it at all, even when I attempted to get her to investigate a little. She knew it was something with which she did not want to get involved. The best things about this product in particular (above some others) are:-The product is a long roll rather than 12" squares. I like the full coverage and convenience of a roll.-The product comes with metal U stakes for anchoring it to the ground.-The product is black instead of clear. This makes it less visible from a distance.-The product is a mesh. Other "cat spikes" are made from a sheet of plastic and shaped like cones. Those block water flow and are very visible from a distance if not hidden. This is the best product for placing between shrubs and along your foundation over mulch. If you attach this to your garden in a way that elevates it slightly (putting a couple large rocks or something below it) you can also protect the natural wildlife from hunting cats. I will be creating a raised section of this along my porch (just a few inches behind the bushes) to give my garden toads and lizards a haven. The cats kill the toads and lizards...the slugs get out of control...the slugs kill my flowers. This stuff will literally save some lives in my garden and help to make me happy!

It is what it describes itself to be, a mat with plastic spikes. The spikes are not needle sharp, but certainly uncomfortable if stepped on. It can be easily cut to size with regular scissors. I am using this inside, and not outside. I have a cat that sometimes decides they're going to do their business along the wall instead of the litter box 3 feet away....It certainly works, however a couple caveats. First is the mat is made of plastic, and it has a very strong memory in wanting to stay rolled up. I had to use weights on both ends to keep it from rolling back up on itself. Outside you could use the included lawn staples to keep it down. The second caveat is while this will deter an animal from walking where the mat is, it will not deter them from anywhere else. At best you're just moving them to a different area, so don't expect miracles. If you're worried about your garden, don't be, it's just fertilizer.

This is a large reel of spikes held on a grid. It's fairly easily cut (with long scissors from the back). You have to watch out for yourself as the spikes really are quite sharp. There are small plastic clips to join pieces together to form wider areas and they provide some galvanized clips to keep it in the ground.Certainly a good deterrent for animals to dig or even travel over this, should stop most animals including rats (to a degree).

Despite trying every natural remedy and nearly every gadget on the market, I was still fighting a losing battle with the neighbourhood cat using what used to be my flowerbed as a giant litter tray.Until now that is! I think I could have just have put an end to its morning ritual. This mesh arrived rolled but it flattened out easily enough and the supplied hooks secured it exceptionally well, especially in soil. I used a trowel to knock the hooks in due to the spikes being sharp to the touch. There’s a good quantity and I had enough to cover the bed with enough spare should I need it at a later date. Although, I can’t see why as it’s plastic and hard wearing. What I like about the mesh is it’s flush and secure, so it cannot be dug up or moved around by the cat. The soil underneath is totally inaccessible for the cat to scratch at. it also looks a lot neater than previous individual spikes I have placed there. It cut easily with scissors which enabled me to get the perfect size. It’s been down now for 2 days and despite me wondering whether I’d wake up to a surprise parcel harpooned on a spike, I’ve had nothing, I think the sharpness and regular spacing of the spikes is a great déterrant considering I wouldn’t want to walk on them either.I have high hopes for this and looking at it I can’t see how it can fail. At 23.99 at time of review, I think it’s great value, it’s worth that to save the mental anguish and smell I’ve endured for the last 15 months. So far so good! But if it does fail as a deterrent at any stage over the coming weeks and months, I always return and update my reviews so they remain accurate. This has exceeded my expectations in quality and design and therefore I am happy to award this product a five star rating.
