It gave me what I was looking for but it was hard to put the magnets up.It would not stay and a way to make it stay!

I live in a rental that has a fireplace but the fireplace no longer functions I doubt very seriously if it is even safe to use still because the gas supply lines and everything that went to it are disconnected.So what I ended up with was a fireplace I could look at and that allowed freezing cold air to blow through the back of it into the great room during the winter while allowing heat to escape through it too.During the summer it was the opposite the cold air would be blowing out of the Great room through the fireplace and the hot air would be blowing in. This made the downstairs great room very uncomfortable no matter what season it was.I was looking for something that maybe I could put over the front of the fireplace to stop the draft. Something similar to the plastic window film I used to use on the inside of my windows during the winter when I lived in Michigan.While browsing I happened to notice this particular fireplace cover. It was the exact size that I needed for my fireplace opening. The black that surrounds The fireplace is black painted wood. So, I had to make sure that I could find something that would cover the metal front of the fireplace.The cover does come with two-part pins that you can use to fold the material and put the pin through to make it smaller if you need to. I didn't need to use those. However, had I ended up having to use those, I wish that they would have been magnetic. Sadly they were not and that could have created sags because of the extra weight and the folds on the edges from using them. So keep that in mind if you are considering this item.When it arrived I could tell it was pretty good quality and since my fireplace above where the gas logs are has a little hood that comes out I assume to keep heat from rising up on where your TV would have set above the mantle. That caused the fireplace cover to bow out a little bit which was leaving a small Gap along the bottom where cold air was shooting through. So I also bought a door draft guard. This one is a triangular shaped one and it slid right up there and is it wider than the shield so it fit perfectly. Both products are extremely high quality and work absolutely perfectly for what I needed them for.The difference is amazing I now have maybe a 2° difference in temperature between upstairs and downstairs. Where previously the temperature could have varied by as much as 10 to 15° difference depending on outdoor temps and wind . This has made the great room much more livable. I'm shocked at how much better it is and I feel like kicking myself that I didn't think of doing this 2 years ago when I moved in here.At first I didn't think I would like the fake fire on the front of it but it actually makes it look a little bit better otherwise with the black trim around my fireplace it would just look like a giant black hole.In closing, if you are looking for something to cover your fireplace opening and the dimensions fit what you need I would say go for it this is a quality product that actually does what it says. IT WORKS!

Used to cover my fireplace opening. Helps to block the cool air flowing in. Looks like a real fire. Just wish it was a little thicker. But very pleased with appearance. Getting compliments from friends.
