A beginner sourdough baker here: For me this was a good little kit. I don't find myself using the temperature strip and it doesn't completely stick to the jar. Also, I prefer a plastic lid that I already have and in my dry climate the cloth top doesn't work for me. But the shape and size of the jars, the volume markings, as well as the spatulas and date/time band are worth it. I placed a label and wrote the weight of each jar on it (one was 400g and the other 404g). Now I can simply weigh the entire jar with the starter to calculate my feed ratios. I love the mason top because I add the water first, place the lid on and shake it vigorously to loosen any dry bits, then scrape the sides down to clean it up. I then add the flour and mix it in the bottom. I wipe off the top of the jar, rinse the lid and place it back on, loosening a quarter turn. This process keeps the jar really clean and easy to see the rise and my starter can rise without drying out. With this method I rarely have to wash the jars and I keep a countertop starter jar and fridge discard jar.

This is a great purchase for the price, you get 2. These are my go to jars for my starter and storage in the frig. You are able to keep track of when you feed the starter and the temp.

The jars are a perfect size and the wide mouth really helps with being able to stir everything inside. I am disappointed that all of the measurement lines have washed off. Likely because I put them in the dishwasher. It’s not a total loss since I use a scale to measure everything anyway.

Love the glass and markings make it easy to see when starter has doubled and has bubbles. Cloth lid great for breathing dough, and full lid great for refrigerator storage. Easy to use and durable. Easy to clean.

I started off my sourdough journey with this jar. The quality design and east of use was perfect! It is easy to clean, perfect to store when not in use, no assembly required with a great value for your money! This jar was exactly what I needed and comes with the perfect amount of accessories.

This was my sourdough game changer. I was using just a normal jar before and I’d forget when I fed, when it wasn’t in the fridge I’d just loosen the lid…. This adds so much functionality with the band for date and time, mesh lid, temp strip, etc. The design was so well thought out. The scraper helps make it easier to mix and keep the jar clean and it’s so sturdy! I can’t believe how inexpensive this was and how much it helps to make my novice sourdough baking so much easier!
