I use this external Blu-ray drive to install software from a CD since my laptop doesn’t have a built-in CD drive. So far, it has worked fine without any issues. I also appreciate the added USB Type-C port and SD card reader, which make it convenient to transfer files from my SD card to my laptop. While it has been functioning well, I haven't used it extensively yet, so I can't speak to its long-term durability. Overall, it’s a useful device, but time will tell how reliable it is.

I needed a External CD drive and ordered this one, only one problem, it didn't work. Windows 11 23h3 version is installed on my Newer HP Desktop and also on my new laptop - neither pc has a dvd/bluray installed, so I figured this should have worked. Not sure if it may have been a faulty unit so I decided to return it to Amazon. Amazon approved my return and credited me back promptly. I am thinking it is probably Microsoft Windows 11 had an update during the past year that probably caused the problem as I have no problems with USP flash drives or Hard drives that have no problems and they connect perfectly to either of my pcs and work perfectly.

I was pleasantly surprised at the build quality of this moderately priced BD player. I've bought several over the years and settled on the silver Panasonic as the one I would always use. However, I saw the extra functionality of this one and had to buy it. The convenience was too compelling. I'm more pleased than I expected. Enjoy yours.

UPDATE October 7, 2024 - Unit stopped working. Power light not turning on - tried several different computers. I will not be buying this one again. This unit has some interesting additions with onboard 2 usb and 2 usb-c ports. Most bluray burners do not have this feature so this is a plus for limited usage / power requirement items. What is concerning is the actual usb / usb-c connection cable is very short and you'll need to plug in both the usb and usb-c connections to get the unit to work and there is not much cable on these so you'll need ports together on your computer/laptop for them to work. Luckily I did have such space.I am using my bluray burner as long term storage burns for files that don't need to be on a hard drive and the speed is slightly less than what I am used to with a double usb connection on a burner that I replaced that had gone belly up. Since this is purely an archival unit for me, the speed is not a deal breaker.I will report back on this on longevity but the overall unit seems nice enough though I do find the bluray drawer to be slightly hesitant to lock requiring multiple attempts. Right now it works. Not sure how durable this will stay.

I recently purchased a Dell 15 inch laptop but it does not have a DVD drive, which I do need on occasion, and it is skimpy with just 3 USB and 1 Type C ports (most of the time it "acts" as a desktop with external keyboard, mouse, and monitor which take up 2 of its 3 USB ports. Thus, I have been in the market for an external DVD/CD drive and this 7 in 1 External Blu-ray Drive grabbed my attention with its impressive capabilities coupled with its 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 Type C ports, 1 SD card slot, 1 TF card slot, so I decided to buy it. Set up took like 5 seconds - just plug into either a USB or a Type C port my laptop, and it was immediately recognized and ready for use. No drivers or anything else to install. I first put in an audio CD and it played the songs and I listened to the music over headphones connected to the USB 3.0 port on the player without having to use my last USB port on my laptop. Next I put in a wedding DVD and played MP4s and they looked great as I expected them to. My final test was to load software purchased on a DVD, namely TurboTax, because when I buy software, I prefer having it on a DVD versus a download. And that worked fine. This device has enormous capability with its Blue-ray 3D features and should perform well for anyone with those needs, but I do not presently have the need for those advanced features although I do like having that capability should the need ever arise. Bottom line, I'm very impressed with this 7 in 1 External Blu-ray Drive and believe it fills an important role next to my new laptop, and the price is VERY reasonable!

Now that CD-ROMs and DVD players are kind of non-existent, I was always wondering how I'm going to use my DVDs and Blu-Rays with my computer.Found this product on Amazon accidentally and realized it's a product I actually needed. One of the best parts is that it also is a DVD burner, so I can even back up my Mac to an optical disk. Which I'm still a big fan of!Anyway, I love how they have the external ports for USB and SD card. This is awesome because I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to be able to move my pictures from the SD card directly to DVD.Lightweight and travel-friendly the only thing I wish it had was a little bit longer cables.

My laptop has no CD/DVD/BluRay drive, so I decided to use this external drive, mainly for making photo backups and creating musical CDs, as my car radio does not have USB input. I tested this unit using both its cables (the one built-in, and also its USB-A USB-C delivered with it. For my first test I have inserted an DVD-R disk declared for 16X speed, but the program (Ashampoo Burning Studio v26) has automatically chosen 8X speed after the disk checking phase. In all, it worked correctly and its verification step found no errors. One thing only... the added cable is a tad short, at least for my laptop which has only one USB connecting point on each side, so the burner had to be behind it, for both cables to reach to laptop's both sides. Not a problem really, but I'll try to find a longer cable so as to be able to arrange it more comfortably on the table. So this is more a question of my table than of the burner / player!IMHO, it is one good product.
