I work in a computer repair store and we often need to clone drives from one machine to another. This allows me to do that relatively easily. I have found zero flaws with it.Previously I was using an aluminum enclosure that was a bit fiddly. This reader makes it super-simple to swap out drives. Plus, it takes up less space on the desk and it looks good. It's much better than having the old enclosure laying around or having to find it in a drawer etc.

This is a very well made dock, it's a solid chunk of aluminum and feels and looks great on my desk, the included cable is also nice but I do wish it was longer, it's only 1ft which is too short in my opinion.Performance with my Gen 3 NVMe drives were as expected, I can get full 3GB/s reads and writes in benchmarks using CrystalDiskMark, which is to be expected for drives of that sort using a USB4 connection.I think that this would make a great addition to a testbench or a great addition to the workbench of a technician as it allows you to easily swap drives without having to open up an enclosure. I will say that this is probably not the best for long term use as there is no cooling for the drives, NVMe drives got hot under load and you need some sort of heatsink for them. I guess you can install a heatsink on a drive you want to use for long periods but that would defeat the point of buying something like this which is for easily swapping drives in my opinion.Overall, this is a tool meant for specific use cases, I would say that most home users won't benefit from having a dock like this but it will do wonders for a technician!

Works great for putting extra drives to use for storage, or prepping drives to use in other devices. Holds onto drives strong enough to not fall out upside down, but not difficult to insert either.

With products like these I'm always worried about how effective they will be. Sure it's very attractive how this is displayed as well as the ease of changing it out but will it actually function well? I'm happy to report that in my testing this is function very well. With different storages I was getting consistent speed uploads and it connected through the USB consistently. I also like the ease of how this is applied. I've got to say that I think that they made a really good product here and I think the price is very fair especially if you're someone that has to transfer a lot of data and needs to switch out that data often.

I am giving this product 3 stars because I don't have enough information or data to say weather or not this is a generally good or flawed product. I tested it with three SSDs I have around. 2 are PCIe4 A-key and one is an older A+B key that's supposedly supported. However, the latter is not being recognized. I have a different portable SSD enclosure that works with all 3. When using such a product for a wide variety of memory that might be older, then this product might not have the compatibility. However when used with the pcie4 chips it delivers the promised speed. It does get quite warm though even to a degree of hot while just being connected and idling. It also does not seem to be hot-swappable. I had to use plug and plug it back in to recognize the other SSD after safely removing is from within the OS. Tested with Mac and Windows and same results. Overall it looks cool having it on my desk but it's not something I would use on the road. And without hot swap capabilities it somewhat ruins the idea of being easily accessible for me...so at this price range you'll want to figure out what you'll want out of an SSD reader as there might be others with same speeds that would be better if used for on-the-go activities.

The base of this M.2 USB-C docking station is heavy, and that is a good thing. It does work at USB-C 4 aka Thunderbolt 4 speed with my new M4 Mac Mini. I put my WD SN850X 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD into this docking station. It reads and writes over 3000 MB/s (see attached screenshot).I would still prefect to use my Zika M.2 enclosure for my permanent external M.2 storage solution. But to quickly connect and swap multiple M.2 NVMe SSDs on a temporary basis, you can't beat this.

Reading and writing to a M.2 NVME drive is very, very fast with this device over USB 4, so I'm really satisfied with performance. But I have two complaints. The SSDs won't mount on my Mac without unplugging and replugging the docking station. And the dock remains hot, even when no drive is inserted, which worries me for its longevity and some waste of electricity. So I guess the workaround is to keep it unplugged, then plug it in only when intending to use it. Maybe it needs an on/off switch.

I was looking for a quality NVMe reader without needing to hook up directly to a pc. I have a bunch of computer Hard Drives, SSD, & NVMe's . Trying to manage them without tearing my main PC apart to hook them up is a pain, so looked for alternatives. I have a similar system for SSDs and HDDs but it didn't have a NVMe connection so started looking for one that would accompany my setup.I came across this and was very surprised it was actually an aluminum casing making it really feel high quality and premium. This is a solid station and weighty station to plug a NVMe drive into. Doesn't tip, wobble, or otherwise feel weak providing a strong foundation for the drive to be hooked up. This was a pleasant surprise as other's I've tried are plastic, and doesn't feel as premium.Transfer speeds are pretty up to par, though since I do not use USB 4 I am unable to test the true USB 4 transfer speed claims. Compared to the other offerings, it is a bit pricy, but you get one heck of a premium quality looking product and looks great if you have a station dedicated to hooking up all kinds of drives to manage quickly. This is definitely worth getting if you want a professionally looking NVMe station.
