Works as advertised. Its a great docking station for both SATA and IDE drives I tried others and some of the drives didn't boot then tried this one and most of the drives that didn't boot, booted up with this docking station. Would reccommend this product and the adjustible power supply for IDE drives is genius because not all IDE drives have the power supply in the same spot.

Works with no added drivers or SW; Windows sees the external HD as another HD on the system. However, sometimes a window pops up saying something like Admin Privies Required to Access, but I just click OK and it proceeds; maybe a Windows thing.I only wish it didn't need an external PS. I would have thought that the USB port on my laptop would be able to power it.Now that I've extracted the old files I wanted, I formatted an old IDE drive and use it as a .MP3 backup drive. And another for pix backup. I'm of the opinion that older sub-TeraByte HDs were built better than today's stuff (what with continual cost reduction in manufacturing and data compression schemes) and I won't be held ransom by cloud services. So a side benefit is data BU.

This was exactly what I was looking for to connect IDE Drives to USB. However, I've, not used an IDE dock before and I found it very difficult to align the IDE pins correctly. For the 3.5" IDE drive, the difficulty was in aligning the power connector that slides side to side for different drive power positions. It's a great idea in theory, but the only way to get it aligned is by feel. The 2.5" drive was especially difficult to align and took me a few tries while missing the end by a few pins. I was a bit anxious that I was going to bend/crush a pin in the process. These are blind connections, so it was easy to be a little to far left or right and still push down. The SATA drive insertions are much easier to align. I don't see an issue with the SATA interface.I give this dock a 3 because it does, in fact, connect an IDE drive to my computer. There is no software needed and was plug and play with windows 10. If I were to rate this dock purely on ease of plugging in IDE drives, my rating would only be a 1 or 2.

I was just testing out this Docking Station and it works with my IDE and SATA drives- better than my other (SATA) Docking station and IDE adapter.I have one SATA drive that won't work with my Sabrent docking station, but, it works fine with this. All of the drives I've tried; a few IDE and SATA drives are recognized immediately. This is not so for my other Docking station.I saw some people complaining about the way the IDE power plug receiver moves (to adapt to the different position of the power plug on different IDE drives):It works fine- you have to be gentle: when you are (gently) inserting the drive into the Docking station gently slide the "power plug receiver" on the docking station until you feel it engaging.Anyway I'm very happy that this Docking station works fine with drives that were not being recognized when using my other Docking station and adapter.

I plugged this in and when trying to turn it on via the rocker switch on the back, the switch just loosely flopped back and forth. It's obvious that they did not plug this in and test it before it was boxed. How could you miss a bad power rocker switch?I figured it wasn't worth my time and hassle of sending it back for the short time I needed it - I was looking at some old IDE drives before destroying them. So I removed all the screws, removed the bottom plastic plate, pulled the wires off of the rocker switch, and tied the wires together. Worked for the 30 minutes I needed it. Now it's in the trash. QA? What QA? Garbage product. Maybe I can use the wall wart for something.

Works well with many of my SATA drives. I made a very stupid mistake of plugging in one of my SATA drive into the drive slot, not realizing that it is still powered on and connected through USB to my computer. The result was catastrophic ... corrupted the file structure on that SATA drive resulting in the loss of all files and folders. CAUTION: Do not yank out the hard drive from the slots without performing a safe eject or shutting down the computer. Or push in a hard drive into the slot while it is still powered on and connected to a already on computer.

Out of 6 HDDs I was testing, this docking station only detected 2 of them. Granted 1 HDD did prove to be dead, the others were just blank but good. I had ended up restarting my computer each time to mount each HDD to my motherboard. The only reason I'm given it 2 stars is because it is simple enough to hook up and my pc had no issues switching between the 2 HDDs that it could detect.

Not a bad SATA / IDE reader, works fast and reads well. Bought this because the IDE slot has a moveable 4 pin power connector to adjust for different model IDE Drives. Unfortunately the 4 pin cannot adjust for all types such as the Seagate ST32140A Drive because it’s 4 pin connector is much closer to the IDE socket than other types.
