This is a great way to help my young plants stay warm. This has been a challenging spring and these things really helped save my plants

I needed something to protect my hosta plants as the deer were eating all of the smaller leaves. These cloches were a good fit and covered the baby leaves as the hostas started to grow again. I was able to water the plants with the cloches on and they also did a great job of protecting the plant from the extreme heat during the last couple of weeks.

I use these handy little darlins when frost alerts are forecast for my baby garden plants. tall enough for newly transplanted tomato, squash and tender plants these are incredibly easy to use. place over the plant and pop a tent peg through the hole provided on the base and you are all set. they act like tiny little greenhouses and work really well!also? these were delivered THE NEXT DAY after i ordered them, so this seller is ON IT.5 stars all the way!

We live ‘off the grid’ in California. So, we plant a lot of edible plants. Many can’t go into the garden until it warms up. For many years I’ve used old milk jugs (which look pretty tacky). I saw these and decided to try. They worked great! My brassica plants got in a month early! Same with tomatoes! And, a bonus all of the critters I fight yearly (rabbits, quail, turkeys, deer) didn’t get my plants! We will eat this season! Now that the starts don’t need heat, they still need protection from the critters. I cut the tops off so some of these and they have made the plants healthy until they are taller than the short critters can eat…so far, so good! I still keep netting and motion sensor sprinklers to help dissuade the critters but this season’s garden is going well!!One mention, you will need some type of stake to keep them in place.

When I first put these on my young seedlings I was thrilled. The growth rate was 100% accelerated over the first few days. Then I realized they were far too small to leave plants in during the time they need protection from critters the most. Also, with zero air flow (aside from a tiny hole in the top), my young plants can't even stand the stems are so wobbly and weak. Great for safely sprouting a plant and encouraging it to get a head start, but won't protect from animals as you still have to remove them when plant is about 5 inches tall and still quite vulnerable. I tried 2 very different types of plant protectors. Without air flow, every plant in these ones had wobbly stems when I removed the cover and could not stand on their own. Plants need breeze/air on the stems to grow strong stems. Didn't think I'd have to stake 4-6 inch plants but they're mush after a weekish of being under these. Might be good for like, small varieties of lettuce or something, I don't know. Nothing with a stem that needs to grow upwards, though. Sorry for the changed review but these ended up being just extra cost and labor for no benefit, I will have to replant a third time this year.

These are made of a thin, stiff plastic material. In the ad it says that it will rebound after pressing. I'm guessing they mean they will rebound if you press on them a little but I wouldn't press to hard. These have a hole on the top to release moisture build up. To secure these covers, you can build the dirt up around the sides or use small stakes. The description also says this can be used to protect the plant from frost. I don't feel comfortable with just one of these covers to protect my plants from frost. I will double them up and plug the hole on top during those frosty mornings. I think these will work well to protect the plants from rabbits until the plant becomes established. Hopefully it will help with insects also.
