I bought four of these units and every one read a different value right out of the box. With some strength the plastic dials can be turned providing the ability to calibrate the dials. If you do purchase this product be prepared to calibrate it using salt or a second instrument.

Very nice. Both gauges on one unit. Just big enough to read without straining your eyes. No goofy colors so it doesn't look like an eyesore in a natural terrarium. I don't know if they're laboratory accurate but i let them sit out for a day or so in a room that had thermometers and hygrometers and they were pretty close. The 3 of these I got were a hair off each other, and my existing equipment, with their readings but you can calibrate them easily enough, and even if you don't I'd say they're close enough out of the box to keep your critters habitat comfortable. No complaints. My favorite of the analog meters.

The instructions don't say anything about calibrating the unit but it can & must be calibrated to have correct readings. The clear lens rotates to change readings, they are stiff but they will move if you use a wide rubber band around the edge of the lens, maybe a rubber glove would work also, just something too get a grip on the lens without crushing the plastic.Hold the unit in the palm of your hand & turn the lens to the correct temp using a known accurate temp gage.Same thing for humidity gage except:use a shot glass or similar container with table salt & enough water to make a slurry like wet sand, put gage & salt/water slurry in a zip-lock bag & seal it up for a few hours, humidity should be adjusted to 75% by turning lens. Ive had this gage for a couple of weeks now & after adjustment it works as good as my electronic meters just not as fast & its only $10.So to all the bad reviewers, calibrate it & stop fussing.

I bought two of these for my reptile cages because I need an ACCURATE reading of my temps and humidity levels.... After removing them from their packaging I set them side by side on our kitchen table for over an hour. They didn't agree with each other. There was a 5 degree difference in the temp reading and about 6 points off on the humidity reading between the 2 IDENTICAL Thermometer and Humidity Gauges ... Oh and it get's better! (Actually worse!)... After installing them inside my reptile enclosures I put my digital Thermometer/Hydrometer in the same location of one of the Zoo Med ones side by side. They disagree EVEN MORE!... As I type this they have been side by side for almost 24 hours and my digital Thermometer/Hydrometer reads 75 degrees F. and 38% humidity. The Zoo Lab (right next to my digital one) reads 78 degrees which isn't that far off but it says the humidity is 52%!! That's a 14 point difference!! I expected better from a "Zoo Med" product and for $12. a piece they are way over priced! The quality of the plastic is less than a McDonalds Kids meal toy! Extremely disappointed with this product!!!.**** I wouldn't have even gave it one star but it wouldn't publish this unless I did!!! I see others have the same complaints- I should have read the customer reviews before I made a purchased. What a total waste of my hard earned $25.00!! I should have bought a second digital!

I was VERY satisfied with the product. Was delivered quickly and was purchased at an excellent low price. My daughter,s 5 foot corn snake is now much happier at a more constant temperature and humidity . The gauges worked as they should giving accurate readings . I saved over 50% from buying it at my local pet store and would recommend HIGHLY this supplier. A++++ service

These meters are just not very accurate at all. They will show you temperature and humidity shifts, but the readings are questionable. I totally believe that you could have two of these right next to each other and have them read different numbers. I give this product 3 stars because it is cheap and although the readings may be questionable, it will still show you a rise/fall in temperature and humidity, alerting you that a change to the environment needs to be made. There are digital options for a little bit more money that are a lot better.

First off, this is a cheap product, so if you highly value your crabs, you'll get something better. But that said, the humidity meter seems to work fairly well. Most will be off slightly unless you calibrate them, so it's not unusual, so the easiest method is to figure out how far off the thing is and do the math when you check. I checked mine's accuracy and it fell within 3 degrees, so I'm rather pleased considering some of the awful reviews. I hadn't really checked the temperature, but it was really the humidity meter that I was interested in, and that works pretty well. If you're looking for something more sophisticated, then a product of this price really isn't for you.

this meter works as expected. I compared with another digital one and they basically tell the same thing.Be aware that this product is actually small. I was thought I can hang it at wall so I can read from distance. In fact, I have to stick it close my newborn's crib so I can read it clear.Other than this, great product
