Will not rely on product to accurately determine temperature and humidity in hermit crab enclosure.Product arrived today it appeared to have been opened previously as the Ziploc bag was not sealed, and there was no protective film on the screen.As you can see in the photos, I held two thermometers in my one hand. The thermometer on the left is accurate and reads 96.8 degrees while this thermometer on the right reads 70 degrees!!Item is garbage and being returned

I purchased this to use in a terarrium for my carnivorous plants. I have 2 terrariums. One is small and on a propogation mat due to the need to be in a very warm environment. The other is fairly large and does not have a heating mat under it as it needs a cooler enviornment for the species in that terrarium. The heating mat is temperature controlled and I believe the probe is accurate. I wanted to check the humidity in each terrarium, which was the real reason to purchase this product. When checking the temp on the little terrarium that sits on the mat and comparing the two probes, (this product and the probe controlled by the mat) shows 3-4 degrees difference in temperature even though the 2 probes are within a half inch of each other. this product shows a lower temperature than the mat probe shows. I have no idea how accurate the humidity reading is since I do not have another humidity probe to compare to. Overall I am pleased with the product I just wish I knew about the accuracy of the temperature guage as well as the humidity gauge.

I have had this instrument about a week now. I gave it a 5 because to date it seems to work quite well and is at least as accurate as my other thermometer/hygrometer instruments, and it was cheaper. The screen is easily read, nice big numbers. For the price if I get a year out of it I'll be a happy camper.

These are great for any reptile or amphian tank. Runs on 1 triple a battery, included. Easy to read. Easy to use. Great price. BEWARE:. Sometimes the inside is the reading at the unit and the outside is the probe. Of the 4 I got they programmed them backwards. A quick check is to run the probe under hit water and hit the in/out side button. Which ever is hotter is your probe reading. Thats how i tested it. It is acurate, just labeled wrong.

Bought this for my chicken incubator, mainly for the humidity and it works OK, however the thermometer was inaccurate by 4 to 5 degrees so use a good accurate thermometer inside as well.

Update 8/20/19. I now have a total of 6 of these no name hygrometer/thermometers. Out of all of them, 1 has malfunctioned. The humidity on it doesn't read right anymore, but the temp still does. I think for how cheap these are, 1 out of 6 not working isn't too bad.This is my 2nd one of these no name hygrometer/thermometer combos, one for each gecko tank. They both work excellent and are cheap in comparison to the big name brands. I love that the back can be flipped out as a little kick stand for it, or it also has a magnet if you have a metal object to stick it to. The magnet is not the greatest, but it does hold the weight of the device. Just be aware that if you bump into it in the slightest it will fall off. I also like that it takes regular batteries instead of button batteries. But that is a personal thing, I just dislike button batteries. Anyone keeping reptiles, don't waste your money on the name brand ones. These work just as well at half the price. And they all, name brand or not, probably came from the same factory.
