I bought these mats to place on my car hood to deter cats from jumping up and laying on it. The cats are not deterred at all. They have no problem jumping up and walking on these mats.Don’t waste your money on them.

My cat was curious and did touch them but right away knew it was prickly and haven’t touched it since. He always jumps over it now cause he knows not to step on it or that it’ll hurt him! I keep it on my stove to hopefully teach him to stay off the stove in the future. For now it is working. I hope that even when I take it off, that he would learn to not go there it.

These mats were really my last option, and they worked! I have a 13 year old cat who had been pooping and peeing on the kitchen counter for the last 3-4 years. At one point, I began placing a litter box on my kitchen counter - I hated doing this!!In combination with the mats, I moved a litter box down into a room near the kitchen, and she began to use it. Immediately!I believe it was a combination of her hating the spiky mats and loving the old/new litter box, and the problem has been gone for almost a month!

We have two cats, a 4 yr old and a 6 month old. They run wild around our apartment, playing with their toys, chasing each other, and climbing. It's their job (so, we have a number of shelves in our living room and hallway made just for them). They run across our lap computers (only when we are on them of course). They both like to watch TV, climbing our book shelves, knocking down pictures and books, etc, to get as close as they can and sometimes jump at a bird or a ball on TV.Out of a dead sleep they will jump and race across small tables, recently breaking a vase, spilling my coffee, and my morning blood pressure medications (plural). But they are fun and we laugh at their facial expressions during their mischief and at the chaos they have caused.Obviously, they don't know immediately what they can and can not touch."No" and "stop that" from me only goes so far when you are wildly running for your life from your feline buddy. In come these Zipcase Scat Mats. Yee-ouch. I'd say they have worked in close to 80% of the areas placed. And these cats don't forget, even after we have removed one (to put it in another spot) they don't go back. They know the mats now. If they do adventure back, my husband simply rearranges them (there's a lot in the pack). And you can cut them to fit your individual spot.Be careful, they are clear and if you sit on one in your shorts you'll know it and may verbalize it (my cats scattered while my husband had a good belly laugh).Still, our 6 month old kitten will sometimes slowly creep across one mat on a high bookshelf to get to a painting (yep).Cats are intelligent and love to learn. Would we buy these training mats again? You betcha.

Cats walked on it like it was a new toy. Maybe I just have three bored cats?

These spikes work well as long as your cats are not into pain, lol.
