These are fantastic - allows easy solo loading and unloading of my 17' 85 lb sea kayak. I absolutely could not do it with J-carriers - you only need to lift a portion of the boat at a time. They are worth every penny and will keep me on the water longer.

I had J-style mounts for my kayak but being in my 60's, I had trouble loading the kayak by myself, especially when it was wet - it would slide off the mounts when trying to load it. While I never though I'd spend close to $400 for four pieces that clamp on to my roof rack, loading is so much easier. It just glides into place. I have thin oval shape roof rack crossbars and these grip it much better than my J-styles did. I'll definitely remove these when not in use (or break down and buy the key cores) so they don't wander off. They are well designed and simplify loading, but are overpriced (although the reduction in both loading frustration and risk of knocking out a window or injuring myself while loading is worth it). A bonus is with the lower minimum height I can drive right into my garage with the kayak mounted which I couldn't do with the J-style mounts.

We've had our sit on top double ocean kayak for nearly 20 years. Getting it to where we wanted to kayak has been a challenge over the years, but one we have been able to handle. However, for the last three years we haven't taken it out because we were beginning to struggle getting the kayak on top of the car. In the past, we have had to flip it over (flat side down) to sit on top of our car rack (2012 Subaru Outback with pre-installed rack with cross bars, before that we put it in the back of our pick up truck) and flipping it was getting harder and harder. Until this year. I gave my husband the ultimatum that we either take the kayak out or sell it. I even had an ad all written up. Then we decided to do some searching for a different kind of rack. This was THE ONE!We read all the reviews, watched a few videos of people installing the rack and the kayak on the rack and decided to give it a try. It's a winner for us 70 year olds. We have already taken our kayak out twice since we bought it. We live in SoCal with a very easy drive to a couple of launchable places, so now we're ready to go. One thing I will add that I'm not sure I saw mentioned. You do need space behind your vehicle to put up your kayak and take it down. In our two launches we haven't run into an issue, but it's something to anticipate. We also did not need to tie down the front or back. We didn't have to travel very far to launch the kayak and the two straps were plenty enough. If we took it on a longer trip, we probably would.

Shipment was quick. Product as expected. Have used these for a 2020 Hobie Revolution 11 so that the kayak can be upright instead of flipping it over on the roof racks. Fits well with the kayak.

I love this kayak rack. I had used J cradles before but it was so difficult for me to load by myself that I was kayaking less than I wanted. Especially after a long paddle, it was tough to lift my 12-foot yak while balancing in a stepladder, even though I am reasonably strong. With this product it’s so easy and requires way less effort so I don’t mind going for a quick paddle after work. I also purchased a Sherpak roller to protect my car and make it even smoother to load. It seems secure and have done long highway drives with no problems, and it’s easy to install. I did cut the straps as they were way too long and kept getting tangled, but that’s a minor fix. Also, it whistles quite a bit at high speeds with my sunroof open. I still highly recommend it. It’s pricey but totally worth it. (I have a 2018 Subaru Outback with factory oval crossbars)

The adaptor works very well with the round bars. I actually now have two of these racks. They are very good quality and easy to use. I haul two 15 foot kayaks on top of a truck cap and it was very hard for my wife to load the kayaks up on the J-rack so I tried these. She can load the kayaks on her own with these racks. Four stars just because they seem a bit pricey....but I guess they are not too pricey given that I bought a second set.

Probably the best kayak pads I've ever owned. I regularly (3x a week) load a 18' ling kayak on a jeep wrangler with these. The Jeep is pretty tall and it won be problematic to get a big kayak like that loaded from the side. The sweet rolls make it a breeze. I like these so well that I just ordered a second set for my wife's kayak.Mine are clamped onto aero bars, so I don't have any problems with them twisting on the bars, but I can see how that might happen if you had round cross bars and didn't have them cranked down tight.Like one other reviewer, I noticed that due to the long skinny shape of my racing kayak I tended to rub the front part of the keel on the crossbar before I got to a part of the boat that was fat enough for the rollers to engage. I agree that it would be nice if there were a center roller of some sort to help with this, but since there isn't my fix was to heat up a piece of plastic kitchen cutting board, bend it into a curve, and zip tie it across the bar between the rear saddles. This gives the keel a nice slick "ramp" to slide on as I get it started.

I have the factory roof rack on my '99 Jeep Cherokee and these fit perfectly on it. I was using a foam block set and it was very hard sliding the kayak (55lbs, Daggar Axis 12.0) onto the foam blocks. Trying to take it down was even harder, to the point where I couldn't do it myself. The Sweetrolls are very nice. I am an overweight, out-of-shape 5' 5" woman and I can load my kayak onto my Jeep now with little hassle. Before, I couldn't take the kayak off the foam blocks because they caused so much resistance the kayak wouldn't budge no matter how much I would pull on it. Now I have to keep my kayak from sliding back too fast because the Sweetrolls do their job in sliding down the kayak. All I have to do is pull down on the stern to raise the bow just a little and the kayak starts rolling back. So nice!!Make sure to read the instruction manual. Some other reviews I've read clearly show that they didn't bother reading the instruction manual or their loading technique is not correct. The instruction manual shows you how the saddles are suppose to be positioned, how to load the kayak onto the saddles, and then how to adjust them afterwards.
