Sharon: I ordered the S1 by mistake. I reordered the P2 and Again, no documentation. I am considering RETURNing this P2: I must depend on uTube to run it. having a document to reference instead of staring at a Bright screen.

an update from my old review the lightburn software has some workarounds and the beta version will have much better support. Xtool reached out to fix the issues and has been great I now have about 9 hours of operating time and have encountered no other issues. This is being used in an industrial setting and although it may not be the best laser for that it is by far the best value for what we need. The hardware is well made and very nice looking the laser is great and easy to swap out. I would recommend this.

Shortly after I wrote this review Yvette from xTool reached out and helps me out with my riser base and sent out an exchange right away. The pass through riser base is only available for purchase on their website. The machine is awesome and very easy to set up and use from xTool’s creative space or lightburn. I have a few lasers and other CNC equipment and this is by far the easiest and produces the best quality of my laser machines. The image quality and speed are pretty amazing! Also, xTool’s customer service is excellent unlike many other laser machine companies. It’s also super fun to use, my other machines are more like using a tool. It’s not a toy for sure but it’s great to have something you look forward to working with!Quick tip, I added clear protective wrap (like 3M’s clear chip guard) to my plastic so it wouldn’t get scratched up or foggy.* Everything was great, except it’s not detailed very well. All the previous reviews point out some features which are mostly as promised, however, the description does not mention the riser (the US version is shown in reviews as the a pass through version for future expansion) is not what I received and is also not noted in the item description requiring another purchase before adding the conveyor unit. Also, previous version had a few more polished finishes also shown in their video promotion and reviews of this product. The chrome detail along the lids hinge area is gone allowing you to see the adhesive strip. I know it’s a small detail but it’s not as shown in the description. I love the machine but it is a little disappointing to see some cost cutting that is so visible.I still love the product just wish it matched the expectations in some of the details. I would rate it higher but didn’t for said reasons. My exception was 5 stars and functionally it has met that. Product description and what I received were not (totally based on the add and promotional material).

Be aware you are going to need at least 4x4 of space for the machine. It’s a large piece of equipment, not factoring in the feed table. Great set up. Does so much more than I anticipated.

We purchased this in September for our small business and it has been fantastic. It’s been very easy to learn. Even though we purchased through Amazon, xTools support has been fantastic. We chose to purchase through Amazon for quicker delivery. Great value during sales and great package options.

I have to admit when we first got this unit , the learning curve was steep. With that being said xtool has redone their app and made it much more user friendly . This is a great laser to learn on and make a few dollars doing it . For the cost of this unit and the speed that it works at you won’t be disappointed, happy crafting

Highly recommend purchasing the bundle. The riser that comes with this is the riser that opens for the rollers for bigger product. The tumbler comes with the chuck roller also. The ad is not very descriptive. The special lazer piece is soooo worth the buy. It does great work. Very easy settup good for beginners also

Let me start by saying, that I’m not experienced with laser engravers, this is my first one. With that said, before actually using this I did a lot of research on laser engravers. I read a lot of material and watched many, many hours of online videos and tutorials. There is a lot to learn. I have had it for a couple of months and would still consider myself a beginner, but I am miles ahead of where I was and have learned so much over those two months. The first thing I noticed when I got this was how well this was packaged, it’s very impressively packaged. There is very little risk this would come damaged from shipping. There is some assembly required, but it’s nothing I found too difficult and anyone should be able to do it by following the included instructions. This kit has everything you need. There is so much you can do with this kit, it’s almost limitless. I have purchased a lot of engraving supplies, such as keychains, dog tags, jewelry pieces, canvases, tiles, wood, etc. You need to play around and get familiar with the different materials and power and speed levels.I have run a lot of tests on most of my materials, but at the moment I’m focused on doing wooden/metal keychains and tags, dog tags, and simple jewelry pieces. I have gotten quite comfortable with using xtool software (XCS), there is some other compatible software, but so far I’m sticking with their in-house software, again you will need to pay around and experiment with how to use the software before you can get up and running on using the laser engraver. At first, most of my test pieces didn’t come out well (burning, too light or dark, of center, etc.), but as noted, the more you use the machine and get familiar with all the settings and positioning, my pieces got better and better, but I will admit I’m still learning. You need to vent this out a window, even then you can still smell it, especially if using different types of wood. I have recently added a full-room air purifier, which has helped a lot with air quality and smell. The actual build quality of this machine is top-notch, it’s a high-quality laser engraver based on my experience and research. Overall, I love this machine, it has become a newfound hobby for me and something I never knew I would be so interested in learning about and using. I have not yet used the tumbler attachment, this is something I will be testing in the coming months.

I think anyone could learn to use this machine with some time and patience. I’m 100% a beginner and I’ve enjoyed it so far. This arrives very well packed with dense foam. Save some if you want to vent this out a window because the foam is sturdy enough to support the venting hose. While the box this comes in is big and heavy, the main machine is only about 40lbs and that was a relief because I’m still unsure where I want to keep this long term. The instructions are a little basic. They’re easy enough to read and are in a magazine format and in many languages. At some points there is no text and only diagrams - they’re decent but I had to resort to reading a lot of tips online and joined some Facebook groups for advice. The included instructions give more of a broad overview of putting this together when I also needed a lot of detail about using it.To use this you have to pair the engraver with wifi and the software. Xtool has its own free software (Xtool Creative Space) and that’s what I’m using, even though I know there other other options out there which sound good but aren’t free - Lightburn specifically. The XCS app provides lots of simple designs for projects, and assists with automatic suggestions of laser power, speed and passes needed to engrave the item based on the type of substrate. You can customize the settings as well. I mistakenly believed I had to install this on my laptop to connect the engraver to wifi but I was able to do it all via my iPad and that’s what I’m using for designing and engraving.Setting up the software was easier than i assumed. (Again, I did watch a lot of YouTube tutorials on this engraver and it helped a lot). Once you have the project sorted out in the software, you set your item on the metal honeycomb tray, use the magnets to hold it in place if needed, and then you move the laser arm to mark the depth of your substrate and then mark the corners of your project. It shows a bright red crosshair and you simply press the button on the machine to mark it. Then you close the lid and hit start on the software and hit the start button on the machine. Depending on the size of your project, the time it takes varies. This engraver has many safety features. The green lid protects your eyes and if you lift it during engraving, it stops. If the machine senses a fire, it stops. There’s an emergency stop button on the right hand side of the engraver which stops it quickly. It also requires a USB to be inserted in the back for this to operate. They include 2. This means you can just remove the USB and nobody can operate the laser without it. This is great if you have kids. This kit includes some substrates like slate. Metal dog tags, some wood and so on. This specific kit also includes a rotary, honeycomb grid, air assist, and a riser. The other kits for this model don’t include all these things. If you want to engrave anything cylindrical like a travel mug or drinking glass, you need the riser and rotary. If you don’t want to mess around with laying out your substrate inside the engraver, you need the honeycomb grid. This is one expensive item but I looked at comparable engravers and it’s actually a fair price. I do think if you’re going to purchase one of these, it might be worth your while to consider the 40w diode because it seems to do more. While I don’t think this is geared at beginners specifically, I’ve managed to make a few nice things and am pretty happy it’s gone as smoothly as it has. It’s a very interesting and gratifying activity.
