Well this works! Interesting results. With numerous SSID's here and several routers to run everything there's RF everywhere. Luckily unless you get up really close to any of the routers it isn't in orange or red, but my two main routers really hit the red hard if you are within a foot or two. This means for anyone working at home with a router on the desk near you, you might want to reconsider.Tested microwave ovens, both were ok, but it did pick up MF for both. Takes 3 AAA batteries to bring it to life and it comes with a little carrying case, though I'll leave it also in the box on a shelf when not in use.Practical to have. It allows you to see easily if anything around you could be harmful to your health, so based on that, and the results I obtained I'd recommend it to anyone especially if you have routers or other equipment which could generate EF, RF or MF.

The overall build quality seems good. The plastic used feels solid, and I like the texture on the sides to aid in gripping. The buttons are made from solid rubber, and they respond well (they depress rather than need touch-sensitivity). The screen lights up brightly, and the data shows up in black, which makes it easy to read. The main numbers are so large I don’t even need my reading glasses to identify them. The unit comes with a protective, zip case. Good for storing, and there’s a handle for carrying.I mainly care about the RF reading as that identifies radiation. With the growing concern regarding electronics and how they relate to health, I’ve purchased several EMF-blocking cases and protection pads. I ordered this reader to (1) Identify what devices are putting out the most RF, and (2) What protectors actually work to lower the output.Interestingly, I learned from using this detector that signals from digital devices are sent in irregular short packets. That means one minute your phone might read as safe, but the next it’ll go way up. To get a good reading, you should give the reader a fair amount of time before determining the final measurement. This tester provides a feature that shows only the maximum number so you know what the danger is without having to constantly watch the screen.I like that I can shut off the “beep” noise because it can be annoying in some settings. But I also find it useful at times as the pitch and frequency of the beep correlate to the intensity of the reading. This is particularly helpful when you want to walk with the device without having to constantly watch the screen to identify changes in reading. The screen color changes based on the reading, too, which can be helpful.### Conclusion ###I like that I can use this reader to track down incorrectly grounded equipment, but I mainly use it to test the effectiveness of EMF-blocking items. While I’m sure there are higher-end and more effective readers on the market, this one by Xin is a good value for basic in-home testing. I do wish it was rechargeable rather than relying on 3 AAA batteries, but I’m guessing that helps keep the price more reasonable so it’s not a deal breaker for me.
