I do a lot of gardening and start quite a few plants inside every spring; this potting bench is a good size and has a lot of features that should make those tasks much easier!First, the kit is relatively easy to assemble and takes ~45 minutes; it's helpful to have a second set of hands to hold pieces as things are squared up, especially on the main structure. Pieces are clearly labeled, as are bags of hardware, and instructions are clear. Almost all holes are pre-drilled to reduce any potential wood splitting and to aid with assembly; most holes also have small offsets so that screws sink in and can pull tight below the main surface, thus eliminating catching any objects. Yes, that means that those on the horizontal main surface might get a little dirt in them... but it's a potting bench. The wood itself all was of good quality; I didn't have any pieces that were a problem (either on arrival or after tightening up screws/bolts) and nothing split. There's a /light/ bit of stain/paint on pieces, though I wish it was a little more complete/thorough. Also, they recommend applying a sealant, something I'd definitely do if you plan to use it outdoors. As for use, I really appreciate the large area, love that the right side can slide open to reveal the "sink" (where my potting mix is held) and then slide back when not needed, like the little shelves for storing pots and side hooks for a few essential tools, and am then able to keep other materials hidden behind the large door or on the open shelf. It's a great setup that has worked well in the early days of getting some winter sowing milk jugs set up.Overall I'm really pleased with this potting bench; I'd definitely recommend it.

What I really liked is the design does NOT have any load bearing screws/fasteners. All shelves are supported by a structural member and the fasteners just keep them from slipping off sideways. The other great feature is the sides and back of the work surface all have boards that will keep items from falling off. While I can sometimes catch items falling off the front side, those going off the back and ends usually hit the ground. Many other potting benches lack this feature that I feel is a "must have" ... and those others were probably designed by folks that never worked in a strong breeze or have a cat that supervises the potting. The tight side of the work surface slides out to expose the sink pan.The lower base shelf may be useful for structural integrity, but for folks with leg/back issues, this prevents sliding my chair under the work surface. So if you need to sit while doing the potting, you have to lean forward significantly. A desk shape opening would make life a lot easier for some users. I wanted to deduct a star, but the design is consistent with the product description. I have to just use a raised bed planter (with no bottom shelf) to do my potting for this reason. This is wood and will only last so long if exposed to the elements. Note that a cheap BBQ grill cover cover can help protect it some from the elements. The assembly had some pluses and minuses.PLUS:1. All instructions were in fonts large and bold enough that reading glasses or magnifiers were not required. All lines on drawings/illustrations are clear. Many OTHER products use micro fonts and lines that are too thin.2. I didn't find any mistakes on the instructions (way to common on OTHER products).3. The instructions recommend 2 people be used to assemble, but I didn't have any issues doing it by myself.MINUS1. Most of the part identifier labels/stickers were loose in the box and not on the parts. Luckily one of the end boards had a label still attached, which was good as they are exactly the same shape, but the screw holes are in different places.2. Screw holes were provided, but match drilled pilot holes are not provided. The screws are very sharp and stated easily, but pilot holes on at least the center legs assemble would make centering it with the mating screw hole much easier.3. You furnish the screw driver.
