absolute garbage do NOT waste your money on this. You are better off just using 2 pieces of wood on top of each with a weight on top... oh wait this is LITERALLY all this is! DO NOT BUY

There is no need for the press unless you are doing a different type of cheese. But for queso fresco there is no need.

It would be better to spend a little extra to get something that is easier to operate. This thing is a little awkward and difficult to set up to know how much weight is being applied.

Easy to put together and use. I wish it came with a SS drip tray for the bottom, I know it says water proof but I always line the bottom with saran wrap to help keep whey off of it. When layering, it can tip to one side, so you have to watch it as the cheese settles. Very good product, great price. I recommend it!

I'm disappointed, the description was misleading to me. I saw the pressure up to 50# thinking I could obtain that using the wing nuts. I didn't realize I needed a set of weights. The boards could be a little thicker. Also the top board, the one with the larger holes, should have washers before you put the washers on. It would help with pressure as well as safe the wood.If you're just getting into cheese making, I'm not sure you should start with this. You'll need other things first, then a press. If I could I would have given this product a 3 1/2 stars.

So excited about this. I've been dabbling in cheese making for several years now. I've finally been successful with making mozzarella. But I have been most interested in making hard cheeses. I've attended several cheese making classes.I set about making my own cheese press using scrounged parts to act as the press, and unfortunately I never got it together. But now this kit has cut out all that hard work.The metal guides are strong. The molds are helpful so you don't need cheesecloth. They are very sturdy.The wood plates are nice, but not super thick. Wondering about long term use with so much weight and pressure on them.One thing I couldn't figure out was about the whey. As you put the curds in to the molds and put the follower on and start to apply pressure, the whey starts to seep out from the bottom of the mold. It just goes onto the wooden tray.A couple of people gave me their solution for it but it still seems like it should be addressed in the design. It seems it will ruin the wood over time. It doesn't address that in the instructions.The other thing that had to be figured out is how to weigh it down. Somehow when I ordered this I thought that you would tighten down the metal parts to add the pressure to equal 50 pounds. I didn't realize I needed to supply the 50 pounds.So for now I have some weights from my son's weight set.Still excited to see those curds turning into yummy cheese. This hobby can get expensive as your one purchase leads to another purchase and then you need the other stuff for it.Luckily this set isn't badly priced, so it won't set you back too much. Plus the value you will get after years of use will pay itself back many times over.
