So, yeah, it'll make it go sorta, but a small 12v is all you need for a loud, long lasting alarm. I'd say a Powerwheels or two 6-volts wired together would be fine, doesn't require a lot of juice, good frequencies for those that have the consta-ring (tenitis?)Very annoying, so effective. I see it can handle 6-12 watts....I recommend 12.

I used this, along with a 12V DC wall adapter, DC5525 barrel jack to screw terminal adaptor, and smart plug to make a House Siren that can be triggered by home automation or by me at sheer whim. Highly recommended. If you have trouble waking up for alarm clocks and you REALLY REALLY need to get up on time, this might also be the solution for you (you can substitute an old-school outlet timer for the smart plug if you're trying to stay off the grid). This is also a way you can add an improved alarm to some of those chintzy home security systems that you can just buy in a box, if they have home automation integration. If your system can toggle a smart outlet when an alarm is triggered, you're in business. These things are dangerously loud at arm's length. I couldn't find my SPL meter, but they're Loud Enough. Be careful.

OPENED UP THE PACKAGE, INSTALLED IT AND IT DIDN'T MAKE A SOUND. RECHECKED THE CONNECTION AND MADE SURE OF THE GROUND AND THE FUSABLE POWER SUPPLY WHICH WAS ALL GOOD. DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. REACHED OUT TO AMAZON AND THEY AGREED TO REFUND OR REPLACE THE ITEM. WENT WITH A REPLACEMENT SO I WILL TRY AGAIN. I'LL WRITE A NEW REVIEW WHEN MY SYSTEM IS OPERATIONAL.

What I like is that it worked. What I did not like so much is that this was intended to frighten away anyone who had broken into my garage. But it sounds just like those car alarms you hear going off in the supermarket parking lots all the time. You know, the ones that are so easy to ignore. I didn't expect much more than that since it was going to be installed INSIDE the garage, hoping the intruder would want to get out of there before the neighbors heard the noise, but it is barely audible from outside. I may just get an additional one to mount outside under the eaves . . .

Bought two of them for an alarm system. They work well and are mounted outdoors and resistant to the rain/weather. The marketing rates them at 120db output, that is a complete LIE. They are probably closer to 85 or 90db. Loud, but not piercing. I wish they were louder, but for the price, it's still a good deal.

Most of the available z-wave sirens that will work with smart home systems are barely louder than an alarm clock which is great for waking me up but not so much for scaring someone off… so when I realized people have been breaking into garages lately I wanted something that a burglar would know the neighbors can hear and would nearly physically hurt your ears to be in the same room with it… I paired this with an AC adapter and a smart outlet to turn it on if the alarm is triggered and boy howdy does it blow all my other sirens out of the water and into someone else’s pool. I’m ordering a second one for inside the house, too. God help ya if you break in to my house, even if police don’t respond quick enough to catch you, the entire gun totin’ Texas neighborhood will.
