About this item

  • Repel Moles & Gophers – This repellent device uses sonic frequencies to penetrate the soil and humanely drive away moles and gophers
  • Pulses Every 30 Seconds – This device emits sonic frequencies every 30 seconds, so moles and gophers never get used to the sound and vibrations
  • Powerful Protection – The spikes work in a circular pattern, approximately 95 ft in diameter. That’s up to 7,500 sq ft of coverage per sonic spike
  • Mow-Over Design – The spike can be installed flush with the ground, allowing you to mow your lawn and walk around your yard without obstructions
  • Long-Lasting – Each spike will run for approximately 4 to 6 months on a set of 3 “D” batteries (not included); rechargeable batteries not recommended

Safely send moles and gophers scurrying from your yard unharmed with this Sonic Spike. When placed in the ground and activated, sonic pulses penetrate the soil, emitting a sound that is highly irritating to moles and gophers who are virtually blind and sensitive to sound and vibrations. Climate permitting, leave the Sonic Spike in the ground to repel new generations of pests. This spike is designed with a convenient removable battery sleeve for trouble-free battery replacement. One spike will work for 4 – 6 months on one set of alkaline batteries. Spike must be used continuously for 7-14 days before moles and gophers start to move away from the area.

Just doesn't work. I have super highways from moles in my back yard. Thought this would reduce it but was highly mistaken. Product is well built but at least in my backyard with 6 placed all around, it has had no impact on the population at all. I does definitely grab guest's attention like a dog seeing a squirrel with a standard "WTH was that" reaction to hearing them.

Like the yellow cap, easy to locate when ready to replace batteries. Putting the stakes 10 to 15 foot closer works great in sandy soil. I made a yard map of mole stakes to easily locate the stakes when the batteries need to be replaced. Also do not over tighten the cap of the mole stakes, lightly tighten. We've successfully deterred moles on our rural property for over a year. I recommend these to anyone that wants to deterr moles without using dangerous chemicals.

Make sure you buy an auger (1.6" X 16' for 9.99), saying that, its hard to see what is no longer there but our moles and golfers left. if you let the batteries run down (5-6 months) they'll come back but these things do work. They're not fast, (2 weeks or so) but they work. Make sure you leave the yellow cap visible just below the mow line.

I guess I'm a sucker but I actually thought these might work. They intermittently emit a high pitch buzzing sound that is suppose to irritate moles and drive them away to the neighbors yard. I bought 4 of these and they didn't seem to be doing anything. I still had lots of new mole trails in the same areas where I placed the stakes. So, like an idiot, I bought some more hoping that more buzzers would drive the moles away. Nope. In fact the buzzing sound seems to be attracting moles. I even waiting months to see if it was just a matter of time before the moles couldn't take the buzzing sound anymore and would finally move out. Nope, they don't work. I've placed them in directly in the mole trails they don't work. The moles even dig right up to them. Do not buy these, it's a total waste of money. I've exceeded the return time on my purchase so I'm now stuck with a bunch of useless random buzzers. Every time I go out in my yard the incessant buzzing sound reminds me of how much of a moron I am.

I purchased 2 sets of these, to replace the solar-powered versions we had last year. The solar-powered units all stopped working before the end of the season, and these seemed much sturdier. As a bonus, being able to bury them more deeply into the ground meant we (and the neighbors) didn't have to hear the beeping All Night Long. At first, mole activity in the area showed a real decrease, and we were pleased with the immediate results. But as the summer progressed, we noticed more and more moles creeping in. I replaced all batteries, even though the units seemed to still be functioning normally. By the fall, moles were actually making tunnels right up to and around the beeping spikes, and our lawn was once again riddled with tunnels. The spikes keep merrily beeping, but now aren't doing a darn thing to deter the rodents. Maybe our moles are deaf? Maybe they're hard-core, punk rocker moles? Whatever the reason, as we near the middle of fall, our lawn is a mess, and the moles actually seem to be *drawn* to the spikes. The neighboring lawns are mole-free, which is great for the neighbors but now we have *their* moles, too. These spikes are well-made but ultimately ineffective.

I have had zero new burrowing since I installed the first two.I bought a total of 4 and I am very happy with them. Each is in a different garden mostly surrounded by walls and road.. for the last two years I have bad burrowing in each area, I had bought two solar powered models, the sound was very weak and then they stoped working within a week. I dumped the junky solar powered and bought these battery operated made in America ones. They also only have a solid cylinder and a screw cap So much more water resistant. The solar powered models I bought came apart in 3 or 4 places.Which just do not make sense burying them in the soil. My neigbor bought a different brand of solar power and they did not chase the gophers either. My vote goes with these Victor brand Sonic spikes. They are doing what I bought them to do.

We have a 1/2 acre and get moles. Have used similar spikes like these in the ground with success but needed to buy more so went with this brand. The good: the Yellow caps are a great idea. Will make it MUCH easier to find in the green grass when batteries need to be replaced. The other brand I've bought and used over the years has green caps, so can be a real challenge to find in the grass. I'm sure my neighbors are amused when I'm out walking in circles with my head down. The bad(although not too bad) this brand holds just 3 "D" batteries(other brand uses 4) so it might seem like a savings BUT having the two brands in my yard these tend to run out of power vs the 4 battery version. Easy to replace though and this brand has a handy pop up "ring" to pull the battery tube out of the holder that stays in the ground.TIP! Any of these sonic devices will work their best when the ground is tight around them when you bury them. So they will work better in clay soil vs sandy or loose soil. Also, invest in a auger for a electric drill or a cordless one that has a 40amp battery to drill your hold in the ground. MUCH easier and saves a ton of time. You can get the drill here on Amazon like I did, but just be sure you buy one long enough to get entire mole chaser tube in the ground. As far as do they work? YES...they work great for me. I've tried the solar powered versions as well but they don't seem to send out a strong enough vibration to keep moles away nor do they stay charged enough to work 24/7 like these do. Plus, if you have shade in your yard they won't charge up to full capacity anyway. Stick with battery powered ones.UPDATE: One of the 4 quit working and thought it was batteries but isn't Email to company asking for a replacement has gone unanswered so far........
