These things really work.They have a slight odor when they are first started, but the smell quickly burns away. They are perfect for any outdoor activity, have a 20 ft. radius but you can use several 20 ft apart to increase the coverage. Great product, especially if mosquitos seem to like you.

The Thermacell Works!Finally some relief from bites.It works best if there’s no wind and takes about 15-20 minutes to cover the area.have tried everything in a spray and oil, I even tried dryer sheets ( seems to help a little) but i still get 5-7 bites a day/ night in our yard for short times. I am so allergic that I get huge welts and very itchy.With the Thermacell I can enjoy our yard finally. We had friends over around sundown and no one got bites!One concern is after two weeks use it’s not igniting as quickly and takes several tries to light. Hopefully that’s not a problem down the line.Buy it

Absolutely fantastic at keeping the bugs away but, have had 2 now that slowly get gummed up where you turn on/off/light to the point it is difficult to turn. The first lasted 2 years and died the slow death. Then came number 2 which lasted 10 months with same story. I just received number 2 replacement and I hope I can get 2 years out of it.You find a product that works, and Thermacell not only make the replacements expensive but then clip you again for whole new unit in an obscenely.short amount of time they last, not yet allow them to become unusable, keep the shareholders 😎UPDATE!2nd purchased unit on/off/light getting gummed up to make it close to impossible (already had one that died in same manner) now in find it leaking some what looks like black tree sap (see photo) PROTECT YOUR FURNITURE!

The best result of Thermacell Patio Shield Mosquito Repeller if it's located very close to place where you are sitting. Within the 8'-9'appart it doesn't work.

The unit needs to be stood on perfectly flat surface to allow air in the bottom (the base is shaped) or the flame will go out.

Bought this for our yard that is terrible with mosquitoes even during the day. Can’t go outside for 5 minutes without getting bit. This has been working great to keep them away when we’re outside for a while. Mosquitoes still bite when we have a fire going so I use this by the fire pit as well. It does take a few minutes to work so not great for quickly letting the dog out, etc. but that’s expected! No bites while we have this going. Took it on a lake trip as well and no bites there either- highly recommend to anyone surrounded by mosquitoes! I’ve left these out on the deck in the rain before and they still work great. Awesome product and worth the money!

I didn't get this item for free, so you can trust that my review is solid. Mosquitos are pretty picky about who they prey upon. They prefer a particular scent and blood chemistry which is why I can understand why the reviews range from "didn't work" to "changed my life." Let's face it - when you're in an area where mosquitos are so thick that you can hear them buzzing and watch them landing on your skin, you should just go inside. Not much is going to save you. However, if you're like me and your skin lights up with a neon sign for the mosquitos (and you are the ONLY one they're biting in a group), you're happy to try just about anything that will keep them away from you.My husband bought this Thermacell Repeller so I would stop complaining. I still haven't stopped complaining (sorry, honey), but I have stopped flapping my gums about mosquitos. We put this Repeller out on our porch during the beginning of summer, before the mosquitos were really out and about. About mid-summer I started telling my health care provider (and all of my friends) that I must be going through menopause early or having some major blood chemistry change, because mosquitos were no longer seeking me out of a group. As long as we were outside around our home, I just wasn't getting a bite. It was miraculous and beautiful. Then we went to a friend's house. Ouch. They were all over me again. It took me a while to realize (yeah, I'm a little slow) that the reason I wasn't getting bit at home was because my husband had lit the Thermacell each time we were outside. I honestly didn't even realize it was on and running. It doesn't make noise, doesn't product a smell, and doesn't really take up any room at all. Pretty dang amazing. We went through 3 scent pads this summer and one fill of butane and it keeps on going. It's easy to throw in a bag and take anywhere with us. Most everyone who visited this summer has purchased one. I advise you do the same if you're a mosquito magnet like me. It really is a game changer.
