These awls are themselves very nice. Very nice wooden handles and CRAZY sharp. Which is what you want in an awl. However, every awl I have ever purchased always came with some sort of cap for safety reasons. It is very easy to accidentally poke yourself when reaching to get one. These awls did not come with ant type of safety cap. Very disappointed the the company’s safety concerns.

These awls are quite sharp and sturdy. The diameter of each shank seems to be identical, though the lengths of the shanks and the handles, as well as the shapes of the handles, vary. They easily pierce through a variety of materials and are a useful addition to this crafter's toolkit.
