As a woman, I like that this is not too heavy or bulky and is easy to transport with a handle. I like that it is yellow so in an emergency you can find it easily. I got this because we have an indoor spa and it needs draining periodically to clean and change out the water. This pump can accomplish the task nicely and quickly. It is also a good idea to have a pump on hand for water leak emergencies/flooded basements etc. Instruction manual says you need at least 3" deep water to start it and preferably 4" so keep that in mind and also make sure once there is very little water left you need to turn it off asap so you don't run it dry and damage it--so keep an eye on it when in use. You need to supply your own hose by the way.

I ordered this pump to make a DIY flushing system to maintain the cooling system on the little seawater cooled 40 horsepower diesel engine in our sailboat, so I use it to pump barnacle dissolving solution instead of clear water. Needless to say, this is something of an unconventional use for a water pump, but it totally worked like a charm, and was not damaged by the cleaning solution. I only need to flush the cooling system once a year for an hour or two, so I expect the pump will probably outlast me.Most people will probably use the pump for more conventional purposes that will involve much longer run times, so I can't say how well it will hold up under heavy use, but for my purposes I couldn't be happier with it.

We have a bigger pump that is a bit too heavy for the wife to handle. This one is lightweight and easy to pick up. Even though it has half the GPM rating of our bigger one, when using a 5/8” garden hose, there’s no difference as the hose size limits water output more than the pumps power. Works great for her to drain our 5 tier concrete fountain for cleaning.

This thing is a beast! A little larger than I expected, but still not too large. However, it feels very heavy-duty, I didn't have high expectations but upon pulling it out of its box, I knew this was a heavy duty little guy, you can just tell by the heft, the thickness of the plastic, even just the jacketing of the power cable, it all comes out as industrial grade; not flashy, just straight to the point and effective. At this size point, we got it for draining a hot tub which it's great for, would also be good for draining a pond. It could also drain a pool, although it would take a little bit of time for it, the brand would also be easy to recommend, just likely aim for one of their higher HP options for faster pumping, unless of course time is of no concern.

This pump, although smaller is super efficient. We have two large ponds in our front yard with a flat walkway over them. We regularly clean them out and I was sick of using a wet/dry shop vac. I decided to look for an efficient, fast draining pump that wasn't bulky in size and how I didn't buy this sooner is beyond me! I saved sooo much time, energy and back work by using this. Although I still scrub the moss off my rocks and liner bc this clearly doesn't have a hose to suction around the rocks like my wet/dry shop vac does, this still saved SO much time and did a great job bringing the loose moss to one area with its gravitational suction. If you have a lot of moss, leaves, loose debris in your pond or pool, you may want to get something that helps keep debris away from the pump so it doesn't clog the outside. If so, just remove the items and it goes back to full throttle suction. This is a game changer for time saving of water removal!Its cord is around 10 feet and it runs at 1600hp.A great item to have for making your life easier when it comes to draining pools, ponds, flooded areas, moving water from one area to another, etc.
