I gave this 4 stars because 1) it “clicked” into my Uniden R4 (btw, I know from experience that it fits at least the R3, R7 and R8 as well) just as the Uniden connector does and there is no more fear of it being pulled out than there is using Uniden’s 2) though I did not perform a material analysis on the contacts, everything about them seems just as Uniden’s are 3) it works and it works even when I wiggle the cord pretty hard (I use this on my GSX-R750 and can’t afford intermittent functionality, there was no delay in current transmission 4) the USB side worked with no problem or misalignment of the USB internals 5) for me, 5 feet is just about the perfect length, but that’s going to be subjective, but 5 feet for the price is on the good side of neutral 6) the cord is tubular with no creases or blemishes 7) I would have actually given this a 4.5 because a 4 ( or 80%) is actually too low. However , the actual housing of the USB could be made with a plastic of an higher confidence inspiring material, e.g. a little heavier and a little less brittle feeling, though chances are it’s fine. That along with the low complexity of the product was enough for me to rate it at 90%, and forced to 80% by the low resolution rating choices Until Amazon will allow it, however, it is the only way to express a minor “ding” is to deduct a fifth of total possible. The only way to express a major ding is 40% because total junk is 20% because 0% is unavailable.Point is I am satisfied with it, it did what I needed and unless you have to use the USB for very heavy duty use (which you shouldn’t) and the specs are what you need, I can offer no reason that you shouldn’t purchase this one.Overall: 90%.

I bought a 2006 BMW Z4 that is so old school. That it does not have blue tooth capability. So I had to get a blue tooth adapter which uses the cigarette lighter to power up. The blue tooth adapter has USB power port. So I needed this adapter to connect my Uniden Radar Detector to the blue tooth adapter USB port. And it worked perfectly. This adapter worked like a charm. I am able to use my blue tooth adapter and radar detector now at the same time. Great to have this as a power cord replacement.

This device allows you to plug your radar detector into any USB power port, so a dedicated 12v socket becomes unnecessary, and this might save you some time and space. For example, I've run a USB power supply behind the screen in my model Y, and that happens to be where my Uniden R7 radar detector is mounted. So, using this cable means that I don't need to run a dedicated power supply line to the R7. I just plug into the USB power supply that I've already run behind the screen. Voila! Time saved and less wires involved. Priceless!!

Based on another review I thought this cable was a step up adapter that could plug into 5 volt usb and power a 12 volt detector. It does not

I ordered this to connect a Uniden R3 to the USB in a 2025 Toyota Camry. It does not power the radar detector and an error message pops up indicating its draw exceeds the USB power and to unplug it. It may work in other vehicles, but it doesn't work in a 2025 Toyota Camry.
