Good functional unit but the 8 hour continuous use limit is a drawback for me.

I had to solder on to the wires in order to get a decent length cable. The default cable length is too short, especially given the fact that this device is not grounded and if you got any water leaks/splashes the cable would be right in rangeThat aside, the only other thing of note is that these use the NPT threading so if you want to use a hose you should get adapters. I also needed to use teflon tape to in order to get rid of most of the leaks. I have a very very very slow drip on the intake side. I wasn't able to get rid of it all but its so small that for my usage its fine. This is a nice solid device

This valve works perfectly. I purchased a normally closed valve. Then hooked it up to a float valve that is in my rain barrel. The float valve turns the electricity on when it is in the down position. This then opens the valve and turn on the water hose that is in the top of my rain barrel. When the float valve is in the upright position the valve is shut off.

I use this to control a mister in our greenhouse. The solenoid valve (not shown) is controlled by a thermostat which also controls a fan for cooling. The photo shows two misters attached to hose ends and the white thermostat at the rear wall. Two of the hoses are plugged to prevent over watering. The solenoid valve is attached to a water faucet outside the greenhouse and applies water to the misters when the greenhouse temperature reaches 100 degrees F. So far the solenoid valve has worked perfectly and does not seem to be adversely affected by temperature or rain.

This is the worst .... valve I've ever bought in my life. I'm a professional electrician and a highly accomplished grower. I've bought solenoid valves from many companies but this by far is the biggest piece of ... ever it started not closing all the way from the start and has only gotten worse, luckily I'm only using it for water or it could have been really bad. So needless to say buy the Chinese one bc the American isn't worth a cent!!

I purchased this solenoid valve and have been using it now for a little over three weeks in a water pipe application with a thermostatic controller. The quality of the valve is excellent and its functionality is reliable. Mine operates once "on" and once "off" for a total of 6-9 hours "on" time, 7 days a week during the summer (May thru Sept). The solenoid valve is easily disassembled and each of the three main components appear to be easily replaced. Mine did not come with any instructions, but it seemed pretty straightforward as there are only two electrical wires. Some have complained about non-standard pipe threads, but it is definitely NPT. I had no problems connecting red brass, galvanized, black iron, or PVC to the 3/4" female threads. One very important thing to remember is that the valve is unidirectional, not bidirectional, and is stamped with a small flow direction arrow on the brass body. If you happen to install it backwards, the valve becomes normally-open instead of normally-closed and gives the impression that it is a "normally-open" valve. I don't think it is intended to operate long-term in this manner, but I know mine reacted that way before I saw the small flow arrow stamped into the side of the brass body. The valve does get pretty warm when actuated, but not extremely hot. Reports are that the valve is not designed to stay actuated for more than 8 hours at a time, and the solenoid may burn out if regularly operated for longer periods of time (this is because the solenoid coil has to remain energized to hold the valve open). Overall, I recommend this product.UPDATE:After 6 weeks of operation on a daily basis, the solenoid valve is still operating well. Cold, well-water running thru the valve. Solenoid is hot while in "open" mode, but not burning hot, and you can still grab it and hold it for a while without burning your hand. If hot water were running thru it, I don't think I could expect a long operating life before burning out the solenoid, because of the specific way/application I am using it.
