I had to reread the description after I attempted to fill the base with water. No, it really said to fill it with WATER. It didn’t hold water along the seam in 2 places, and I figured it was only a couple of small leaks so I’d just fix it. Then 2, then 3. The reviews were pretty good, so I bought it. Waste of money. Now in the trash and back to square one.

Listen up, patio lovers! If you're fed up with your umbrella doing its best Mary Poppins impression every time the wind blows, I've found just the thing for you. This Umbrella Base Water Weight is an absolute lifesaver.Let's talk stability - once you fill this bad boy up, your umbrella becomes an immovable force. We've had some pretty gusty days lately, and my umbrella hasn't even flinched. It's like it's giving a big ol' "nope" to those pesky breezes. What really impresses me is how user-friendly this base is. Filling it is a cinch, and if you need to relocate your setup, just empty it out - no heavy lifting required. The smooth surface is another big plus. After a downpour or if the kids make a mess, a quick spray with the garden hose and it's spotless again. If you're looking to actually kick back and enjoy your patio time instead of playing umbrella babysitter, do yourself a solid and snag one of these.

This umbrella water bag is great. Our deck can get very windy and sand filled bases just are not enough to anchor the umbrella - even when it’s closed it can get blown over. This bag turned out to be the perfect solution. I placed it over the sand filled base. It is well designed - making it easy to fill with water. It's been out there for a month and has proven to be very sturdy and supportive. The plastic is very pliable and thick. So far, no signs of leaks or stresses. I did build a square box around the sand base that is the same size as the water bag. So, you don't see the base, just a nice box with the bladder floating on top. The box allowed me to raise the umbrella a few inches.

This item is for offset umbrellas!!! It is useless for a standard center pole umbrella. Works perfect and only takes a few minutes to empty and relocate for use in multiple areas. Great investment!!!

It's a simple bladder to hold water for the purpose of increasing the mass of a patio umbrella stand. It appears that it might be capable of doing so, on first glance right out of the box. Then, I began to consider how I'd will fill it; either at the stand or at the water source and then carry this 60 pound bladder as it sloshes about up deck stairs to the umbrella stand.I opted to fill it at the umbrella stand, as that seemed more reasonable for someone only about twice the mass of the fully filled weight. Okay, so where's the gizmo that's supposed to attach to the water intake valve? Nope. Not in the package with the two umbrella weights that I bought. No instructions either. So, now what? Think, think, think...I located some of my handy quick connect and switch off valves that I use for the garden hoses as well as some of the step attachments to modify their size so they'll fit the unusual diameter of the water intake valve. That done, I successfully filled the bladder with water on the deck. Once filled, I was then able to simply switch the cutoff valve that I attached to retain the water in the bladder and then release the quick connect to detach the hose. Now, the bladder is full, the hose is disconnected, and I have a quick connect setup that can be permanently associated with the bladder for any future refills as needed. One problem. The water intake valve of the water bladder is soft plastic, not metal. The brass connectors that I attached are working temporarily. With expertise in materials science research, I'm certain that this connection is not going to be sustainable. I could raise the level of the valve, remove the brass connectors, and cap the stem with the hard plastic cap that came with the bladder. I'd likely not end up with nearly 60 pounds of water all over me and little remaining in the umbrella weight. That this umbrella weight is made entirely of soft plastic is of concern to me as well. Such material isn't designed to withstand the environment to which this will be exposed for years. My confidence that this purchase should remain here has now decreased further.I really want to believe that this is a fantastic option for adding a bit of weight to a patio umbrella stand. My purpose was to assist in stability in the event of a strong gust of wind while the umbrella is tilted. However, I have two new problems now. One, a convoluted water fill issue that might not yet be resolved. Two, the long-lived use of this may not be but one summer due to the material.I could really fix the design of this thing and make it amazing. Yet, it wouldn't be with these materials or the soft and oddly sized (hard to fit) water intake valve stem. The whole thing would have to be scrapped.I'm thinking that I'd better return this. Maybe I can find a couple of 45 pound barbell plates that are typically used for weightlifting. The diameter of that hole should fit the umbrella stand shouldn't it? Okay, back to the drawing board and more searches. In summary, these water bladders that are intended to be used as ballast for patio umbrella stand stability seem quite nice. One could certainly find these to be functional for that intention. I'm not very strong, so their use is a bit more cumbersome for me than they might be for many other people. Moreover, they are not expensive, so that's a boon.

The fill spout is much like a waterbed only smaller. It would be nice to have an adapter for standard garden hose. While filling you need to burp the air to fill as much water possible. I’ll see how much the bag will expand in summer heat. Don’t want to blow seams.8 1 2024 the weight has held up marvelously. No splitting seams. Water tight and holding up to 90 degrees plus in the sun. Buy it!! Rick Danger
