This is designed poorly for supporting skis, efficiently, and safely. It also does not allow for easy accessibility as it requires turning the handle 30 times in order for it to tilt back to open the door.

I gave it as a Christmas present. Used to drive from Rhode Island to North Conway. Im told it performed well with minor sway during high speed. Seems as if it was a good choice.

This was a good solution for my 2023 Model Y long range with factory hitch. The included lock does not fit and required purchase of a different, shorter profile hitch lock (Master lock was a good solution). As expected, has some impact on rear camera.Tightened with ratchet and the hitch was stable/did not rattle during the course of almost 800 miles of driving. Keys and locks not of the best quality but a workable solution. I definitely recommend keeping them lubed with silicone. Close the covers to avoid ice build up. Mine got iced a bit but a little warmth and patience got the locks working again with no issue.Happy with this purchase. If there was a way to convert this to a bike rack, it would be even better. I’d recommend this rack, especially at this price point.

This ski rack did not disappoint. It arrived the afternoon on the same day we were going night skiing. Was able to figure it out in about 45 minutes and then loaded the skis on. It performed like a rock star and I had no issues. I had 2 pairs of skis and 2 pair of snowboards. I could have fit another pair of skis easily but I would have had no room in the car of an extra person ;)

We LOOVE this hitch rack. We have fit 4 sets of skis and 2 snowboards for one trip. Snowboards fit back to back and 1 additional set of skis can fit next to them or 3 sets of skis on each side.It was wobbly at first but with some adjusting we got it to hold tight and not wobble. At first I was worried about road muck and had wrapped the bindings in towels but after a few trips I don’t do that now. I just wipe them done when we get back. They really don’t get that dirty unless you are traveling on really wet roads. There are 2 separate keys so be mindful where you keep them. We used cut up pieces of pool noodles to create a bumper between skis so we could fit them all in tight and they wouldn’t bump into each other. It’s heavy and I (a women) do not have the strength needed to lift it into the hitch so my husband has to do that. I could probably lift it if I took the top section apart and then assembled it after the bottom was in but in 20° weather who wants to do that…so keep that in mind.If a roof box isn’t an option for you this is a great and much less expensive option. $270 compared to a $700 roof box! We love it!

Used it twice and it worked flawless. Read that some people complain ski are too low in the carrier, not sure if they know but you can adjust how high your ski are in the carrier by almost a foot. During use skies were doing great and we loved it. They will get your skies out of your car to free up space for ski boots.Negative:1. You will need to use your naked hands in cold to open and close this carrier.2. It's not very fast operation, only used it twice so learning curve but still will take you a few minutes to load and unload. After a few times probably around 10 minutes3. Left to right this carrier is rock solid but back and forth there is movement. There is however ready solution for around $15 you can get hitch stabilizer.4. There is bolt to lock in up position or unlock to allow back door access, it's not quick release mechanism you will need to srew the locking bolt it and out on loading and after unloading to get you staff from the trunk.Overall great buy if you dont have or don't want your ski on top of the car.

Used it for a couple months and have been very happy with it for my family of six. Takes a little more effort to put the skis in and out, as compared to a roof rack, but much easier to access, especially if you drive a higher vehicle like a van, like I do (family of six). There are several steps for securing or removing the skis. You have to unlock the bars (two) slide the skis on, then put the top plastic clamps on, then lock the two bars, then put a safety strap around the top portion of the skis, then another safety strap around the bottom and over the bindings, to keep the skis in their place. Takes me about 5 minutes to secure or remove the skis. With respect to some comments about it being wobble or rattling, that will not happen ‘if’ you read and follow the instructions. The instructions clearly indicate that you must thread the pin screw bolt through from passenger to driver side, and tingly screw it in with the included wrench. (see picture). Once it’s tight, it will not rattle or wobble, but you may have to tighten it every 100 kilometers or so. Only takes a couple seconds and they include a wrench for this purpose.Final Thought: Takes a little more time to secure your skis but still more convenient then a roof rack if you have a higher vehicle. Only drawback is that it may partly obscure your backup camera when it’s on. Lastly, it sometimes goes on sale. I’ve seen it on amazon go as low as $412.34 before import duties and taxes.

Got this for when family came to town to accommodate skiing trips. Assembly was easy and I really like this thing. We had zero issues getting our skis in and out and it didn’t feel cheap. We didn’t need the straps, but it was helpful to have a second person there to help adjust things initially (the distance between the two brackets was too large for kids skis when I initially assembled it).My main criticism is around the lock, it’s super annoying that the key cannot be taken out when unlocked, so it’s always unlock, open, lock, then the lower one same deal. Would be more convenient to open and close and only lock if you really want to.For our Ford Transit Connect the hatch does not open fully because we can’t tilt the thing back enough. Would be cool to be able to tilt it a little further without needing a hitch extension.Make no mistake there’s a lot of plastic on this thing so it will likely not last years with heavy use, but for occasional trips this thing is pretty perfect.
