They are used for a wide range of applications, including culture storage, enumeration (counting), isolation of pure cultures, or simply general culture.
  • THESE TRYPTIC SOY PLATES ARE MANUFACTURED IN THE USA. They have a thick layer of agar which promotes good growth and have been professionally packaged.
  • PLATE DIMENSIONS. The plates are 100mm in diameter x 15mm deep. The agar in the plates has a depth on average of 6-7mm.
  • DESCRIPTION: 1.5% Tryptone, 0.5% Soytone, 0.5% NaCl, 1.5% Agar.

Tryptic Soy Agar plates (TSA plates) consist of a general purpose media that is used for the isolation and cultivation of a wide variety of fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms. TSA plates also display growth of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. Our TSA plates can be used for isolating microorganisms, total plate count, and for maintaining stock cultures.

I ordered 4 sets of 10 and 1-4 plates from each pack were already contaminated with bacterial growth before even being removed from their packaging.

This product came in questionable condition. Normally when you buy Agar plates, you'd expect them to come pre-sterilized and individually wrapped but these weren't. There was no film to peel off and I wasn't able to successfully grow mycelium within the plates. All molded due to lack of sterile environment. Contamination was inevitable. If you want to truly grow the beneficial bacteria or mycelium you want, invest in something better.

Got it earlier than expected. None of the plates were contaminated.
