I bought a pair of the 10/100's - that's important, they might perform differently than the faster ones. The problem was a 100Mb circuit delivered on copper to the building wiring closet (MPoE) and it had to get from there to a room about 400 feet away (outside of ethernet on CAT5 specs) We have some multimode fiber between the rooms. We put a relatively expensive switch in the room to function as a media converter and got things working. These relatively inexpensive media converters were supposed to do the job and replace the switch. They connect immediately and the link became functional so all looked well. After a few days, users began complaining about communications problems. Several VPN tunnels are built through that 100Mb circuit to other sites and we did not have packet loss or tunnel drop issues before. This went on for a couple weeks without getting better. I put the big switch back in place and have not had a problem reported since. I was thinking the problem might correlate with high utilization of the circuit, but graphs have shown no good correlation at all. It's not rigorously scientific, but that's what we saw. If I can do more testing I'll edit this review with more information.

Used this product to be powered on or off based on security status to optically shut off any network access to a secure network in an unsecured meeting.Everything worked as expected and I have zero complaints with this product. It feels well made and I am confident it will last for a long time. The transmitter had no problems being powered off and on constantly in my testing, it always came back on quickly and restored network access without issue. The price was spot on and it shipped in plenty of time thanks to Amazon Prime. I recommend these converters and will most definitely be buying more in the future.

No mater if you need 10/100 or gig media converters, TP-Link makes the best. I have never had any issues with them and the Gig ones using SFP modules support the use of DWDM single strand Gig SFPs which can double the capacity of your fiber.
