It did its job efficiently but the motor is quite loud. I also have to let it rest at 5-minute intervals because it gets warm. But it does the job! I would recommend getting higher-quality sand papers though.

Years ago, I borrowed a "palm" type sander from a friend, and in retrospect, I imagine there was something wrong with it, because within about 60 seconds of switching it on, the vibration was so intense that it was literally painful to use.As I'm not in the carpentry business, I really never really had a big use for one, plus, in the back of my head, I always recalled my one bad experience. Then I had a couple of small honey-do projects come up where I thought this kind of sander would be helpful... and as a VINE item, if it was terrible--no great loss.I have a 20+ year-old end-grain cutting board from William's-Sonoma that even in the late 1990s cost about $135. We kept it clean, and oiled, but there was no mistaking the fact that it'd seen two decades of use. Since it wasn't cheap, it was worth a shot at restoration.I took it out to the garage, and with one of the coarse-grit sanding pads, (three different grits are supplied), went to work. Wow! Not only did it make very quick work of getting through 20 years of cut-marks, but it was COMFORTABLE! Really, really comfortable to use. There was absolutely NO sensation of weird vibrations running through my hand and up into my forearm. I could've sanded for an hour.I finished up with the finest grit pad in the package and though the cutting board looked like a sheet of bare plywood at that point, a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth followed by a treatment with Walrus Board Oil, and then finally Walrus Board Wax, saw this board restored to an amazing state. There are still some VERY fine scratch marks remaining, but it looks about ten times better than it did when I started this project. All in all, I'm sorry I waited this long to pick up a sander like this, though this one was an excellent choice for an occasional user like myself.

Overall, this sander worked well. It fits well in my hand, although is a bit larger than some similar products I've used. The dust box was a nice feature to have, although it's not always useful depending on the weight of the dust produced (heavier dust will likely remain on the surface you're sanding). My main issue: the paper that comes with is terrible. Not only did it wear out quickly, but the velcro backing also wore out, so even if the sheet had more life, the furry velcro side would no longer hold onto the sander, so you had to toss that sheet. If you get this, assume the cost to get new sandpaper right away, because the product that comes with is lousy.Overall though, the sander worked well for my project, and feels like it will last.

For the price you really can't beat this sander, any negatives I have are relatively minor, like the thick stiff cord that makes it a little difficult getting around. The specs are great but the performance doesn't quite feel like it matches. It is well built.

The concept and design of the sander is fine, but since the sand paper won't stick to the foot of the sander, nothing else really matters. I returned after trying two or three pieces of sand paper, thinking that perhaps the sand paper that came with the sander was the problem. I tried a different brand of sand paper but that didn't adhere either.I wouldn't purchase this unless the company has done something to solve the issue of the hook and loop sand paper solidly sticking to the foot of the sander. Otherwise, I imagine you will have the same problem.
