Noisy.....no speed control....sucks some % of its own dust....the dust bin is hard to get off the body...no contour pad in the box ....it does sand fast ....recharges fast...I am keeping it.

Value for every buck, no regret buying this. Small but powerful plus you get some sand papers with it, something you don't get with other products like this.

I recently purchased the Skil 12V Orbital Detail Sander and I have to say, I'm extremely impressed with its performance. This orbital detail sander is a step above the standard vibrating or oscillating tools on the market, as it utilizes tiny circles to create superior finishing quality.Despite being a 12V tool, this sander packs a punch with a great amount of power. It's impressive how much power it has for its size, and it certainly gets the job done. I was particularly impressed with how well it handled sanding down stubborn spots on wood and metal surfaces. One of the best things about this detail sander is its comfortable grip. The machine is well-balanced and ergonomic, so it's easy to use for extended periods of time without experiencing hand fatigue. I also appreciate the thoughtful design of the dust collection system, which keeps the work area clean and free of debris. One thing that really stood out to me is that the Skil 12V Orbital Detail Sander is a great value for the price. It's comparable in quality to the Milwaukee Detail Sander, which is currently very popular, but at a significantly lower cost. This makes it an excellent choice for both DIY enthusiasts and professional contractors on a budget. In general, I'm impressed with the Skil 12V platform. There are a lot of decent brushless tools in this line, and they're all affordably priced. If you're looking for a detail sander that's powerful, comfortable to use, and a great value, I highly recommend giving the Skil 12V Orbital Detail Sander a try.

Skil is a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch Tool Corporation. My Skil circular saw sits right alongside of my Bosch Worm Drive circular saw. I bought them many years ago, and they both have given me flawless service. This Skil brushless compact sander is a specialty item. It's huge advantage is being able to sand into the corners. Normally, I used a random orbit sander, or a square vibrating palm sander for my daily usage, but when the corners need to be sanded, nothing beats one of these. As far as the cost of the sandpaper if you look up the number one seller, Amazon recommended paper for a 5" random orbit sander, it comes in a 17 cents per sheet; this sanders paper sells for the same. Yes, it's a specialty item designed specifically for this sander, but if it is coming in at a price point that is equal to the number one recommended from Amazon for a general use sander, how can anyone complain about that?If you need the flexibility that comes with a cordless tool because electricity is not easily within reach, then this makes this tool worth it. I have to say, the same make Skil sander like this one that plugs into the wall sells for one third of the price, made my Skil mind you. Directions tell use to charge it up fully before the first use. It comes with a 50% charged battery. It took me 5 minutes to get it up to a 75% charged battery, and it took me 25 minutes to get it to a full charge. However, it kept blinking during the charge, and I got curious about what the battery indicators would say, so I pressed the battery test button on the battery, and it lit up all four lights meaning fully charged, and in the same instant after I pressed it, the charger stopped blinking. So, your guess is as good as mine.I must say, and this is worth repeating. The charger works fine, but you have to make sure it is fully seated in the charger, and don't bump it while charging. It reminds me of something that is barely making contact and the slightest bump, and it is no longer charging. So, it is not dysfunctional, just finnicky. It is quiet, and doesn't any drawbacks in its usage. It feels good in hand. Very comfortable in its usage. It is just the right size. It comes with a small battery mount protective shield that snaps into place so if you are carrying it in a tool bag for example, and you want to make sure a screwdriver or something doesn't accidentally get poked into one of the contacts shorting out the battery, the protect prevents that. Overall, a nice sander. I could see this becoming a pet favorite.
