I just got it and tried one bolt on it that I didn't know the size. I am glad I got it. There are other ones made of plastic around this price. This will last for a lifetime or more.

This is heavier duty than I expected. Well made. Worth the cost for my shop.

This is the type of thing that every DIY'er should have. I'm not so sure you need one this well made and robust though. That is unless you don't mind emptying out the can of screws, bolts and nuts and then trying to find what you need when you really don't have the time to do it. I think we all have a collection of left over parts and fasteners. The secret is to try and keep them in some kind of order so that when you need something you can just grab it. For years I have had one of those plastic things that you get at the big box stores that tells you the length of a both and roughly the size. Then on top of that I also have a thread pitch gauge so that I can further sort what I have, or need. So this device will help with my sorting and cut down one of the steps. In addition to the sorting, if you have a bolt or nut, and need another one but don't quite know the size, this will let you check it and you can go down to the store confident in what you need. I said earlier that this is robust. The big box store could month this on their wall and it would stand up to years of use. Probably a little more sturdy than I need. There are cheaper options that would probably do the job. However if you are the Type A individual that like everything organized, and want something sturdy to help you organize it, you won't go wrong here. It's a good value for the money, but is is not cheap.

My first impressions of this tool was the outstanding quality. This is definitely a professional grade tool. The machining is very precise and the materials are top notch. No burrs or sharp edges, it is very clean throughout and each bolt post is a durable stainless steel.I have wanted one of these for years but felt that I could not justify the expense. Now I wish I would have pushed the button on this a long time ago. I always thought that I can always just bring the bolt or nut with me to the hardware store but that was two dimensional thinking. Now I can get the precise thread for ordering online or find exactly the right bolt/nut for any particular project.Case in point, I have an old 97 F150 pickup which is missing several bolts from the steel panel inside the tailgate. The OEM parts are special order and cost more than I think a bolt should cost. Now, a quick check on this tool told me that the thread is a normal 6mm(M6)X1.0 which allows me now to buy regular bolts at a regular prices and still afford to get spares! It had never even occurred to me that this tool could actually save me money! Awesome! The inclusion of both metric and standard makes this tool nearly indispensable. Everything on the unit is clearly labeled, including the centimeter and inch scales on either edge. The back/bottom has plastic feet to keep the unit from scratching other surfaces that it might be sitting on or mounted to. Speaking of mounting, the unit comes with two spare plastic feet, and two mounting screws. The two mounting holes/slots are located at the top and bottom of the main plate and are open through the entire width. I think I will likely be feeding a small chain through the top hole for hanging on a peg in my shop.I don’t know how I managed without this tool. I know that this will become a regular part of my work flow in the shop and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who works with their hands.

This weekend I was working on my car and I was looking forward to using this board to identify the hardware size I needed, which is when I found the one down side to having these on a board configuration. I had a nut on the bottom of a seat that I was given the wrong size bolt for. The threaded bolts are fixed to the board so I could not take them into the car and try it on my part. This board is a great reference to have but it does have that limitation that you need to be able to bring the hardware to it for it to work. I had the one example of something in my car and I had to use a different style to figure out the hardware needed.
