I have had this filter going now for 3 days and I can see the results, really good. I would look at my tank from the side and see a haze cloudiness that really bothered me, now its probably, I would say almost clear. Fish are doing fine, I have about 30 synodontis(maybe more) all differnet sizes and they are doing just great, checking out this new filter. My angels, they are about 5 years old, are more active than ever. Is it the filter?? I think it is. Try this filter, its nice and quiet, has adjustable levels for water flow and looks like its clearing up my water. Worth it?? yes.

Works great and has been running over a year. Very quiet, easy to change the filter and clean, never notice the smell of it. Great value for the money as it has lasted a very long time. Can’t even tell that’s it’s on.

I bought two of these filters despite a couple negative comments. I've had aquariums for 40 years with many different filters. I currently have a 5, 10, 20, 30, 55 and a 120 for tanks. The 10 gallon tank houses 2 Betta fish with a tank divider. One Betta lives with 2 cherry shrimp but the other is too aggressive to add tankmates. I run a filter on each side. Finding a filter that didn't blow the fish across the tank has been difficult. I've tried a few small ones but they failed to keep the tank clean and the filter cartridges were only an inch wide. I decided to take a chance and I haven't been disappointed. Granted, it's only been a few days. The adjustable water flow is perfect for the Bettas and shrimp. As you can see in one of the pictures, one shrimp likes to sit inside the spillway and obviously not a strong current coming out of the filter. The tank cleaned up beautifully in 24 hours. I did put the inch wide filter cartridge from the old filter into the new filter along with the new filter cartridge for the beneficial bacteria. The Tetra filter is super quiet, appears to be easy to clean and intake strainer is small enough not to suck up the shrimp. The other issue I've had with other filters is failure to prime when our electricity blinks which happens a lot in our town. The Tetra is self-priming so I no longer have to worry. I like that it also has a bio-scrubber (the green basket that cultivates beneficial bacteria). I certainly will update if there are any problems.UPDATE: 16 days...The filters are keeping the tanks clean and the self priming has been wonderful during the last power flickering. The only problem I had is the filters are just a bit too wide for my glass top to sit as far back as it needs to go. Using a pair of snips, I put a small notch into each side of the filter now allowing my glass top to slide into place.

Inexpensive filter that works as it should. Not the most intuitive design but effective nonetheless. I’ve read the reviews that discuss leaking. Yes, if the filter is clogged it will spill or leak. Just to be sure, this filter will “spill over”not leak as if there was a crack. This is the same with most other filters on the market except canister filters, which can be expensive. What can be done is to cut a small piece of sponge and place it between the filter body and the glass. This could buy a bit more time and prevent spilling: think of it as a leveling device.A person experienced in aquarium and filter care should not have any problems.

This filter is amazing! I have 3 goldfish and my other brand filter wasn’t as powerful and didn’t clean or filter the water like this one does! This filter is quiet and powerful! However, I bought in Jan 2022 and it just now went out. Worth the money but I’m bummed it stopped working.

Best filter I have bought in decades, provided it endures. The flow control was tricky, the difference between trickle and waterfall is a tiny move of the dial, but just having flow control is the main point. It's VERY quiet. I hear the trickle of water, not the filter. The filters themselves are sold as kits you can make for very cheap. The flow control/suction goes pretty fast, i suspect you could use this for a 50G freshwater tank in a pinch.

I've owned several Whisper branded power filters, as well as Rena external power filters, over the years and this is a review for the 60-gallon Whisper IQ. I actually have this 60-gallon unit mounted on a 75-gallon tank. From experience I think you can run a bit smaller filter and still get good quality water cleaning from the Whisper brand filters, and with these types of tank 'hanging' filters, you'll need plenty of tank wall real estate and can save some by going a little smaller. With my 75, I've got several feet of back wall space, but the 60g still takes a considerable width of the back wall.I really like the modular cartridge system. You can use Whisper's included activated carbon, or your media own to fill the disposable bags, I often rotate between activated carbon and zeolite. The 60-gal model uses two filter bags. Whisper sells bulk, I buy 12-packs of bags/media which are reasonably priced. The 75-gallon tank this filter resides in is home to a variety of community fish - tetras, gourami, guppies, mostly, along with live plants. Fish are fed once a day.The filter does it's job day in and day out. It's not so powerful as to instantly suck up all the flaked food that's put in the tank, nor have have any of the smaller fish (guppies) been injured or trapped by the pressure at the intake. Nonetheless, running 24/7, this filter moves and circulates a lot of water, and does it's part (along with the biologics) to keep the water crystal clear. Mechanical/motor noise level is minimal. The pleasant sound of falling/moving water is more noticeable than anything mechanical. The top of the filter is easily accessible through a removable top panel. Filter bags are easy to inspect and replace. The impeller has never jammed and the intake grate keeps large debris from damaging the impeller assembly. The top panel fits well and so far as I can tell there is no appreciable water loss through condensation occurring as a part of the filter's cycle.Happy with the purchase and wouldn't hesitate to purchase again, or a different model from the same manufacturer.
