Product Description

SVBONY 1.25" 31.7mm 0.5X Focal Reducer for Telescope Eyepiece Astronomy

telescope focal reducer

Reduction factor of about 0.5x effectively halves the focal length of a telescope; enabling lower magnification; wider field of view and shorter exposure times for astrophotography.

0.5X Focal Reducer Features:

Reduces the focal length for visual and photographic use.

This reducer halves the focal length of your telescope, giving you a much wider field of view. You can use this, for example, for doing astrophotography by using an astronomy webcam.

Apply to: 0.5x reducer for screwing into a filter thread; more lens speed.

Using for: Increase the image field of your web camera, use the reducer visually with an eyepiece, also ideal for video astronomy.

A powerful focal reducer in a small factor. I purchased it to help my guiding scope focus on large objects that took too much of my field of view and did not care about aberrations that might accompany this type of optics. Good value for the money.

Yes, it reduces the focal length, but the optics are not good. Chromatic aberration & narrow field of view

Sharp in the center with presence of distortions in the sides. That was expected for this price.

La calidad del producto es suficiente para observaciones rápidas. No funciona con ocultes de más de 25 mm, pues se forma una viñeta. Es útil para oculares medianos, quizás 20 mm o menos. La reducción es de 0.7 aprox no 0.5

It threaded on fine but dont know how well it works because couldnt achieve focus with my newtonian

The threading is horrible, the optics are even worse (it reduced the field of view of the sky as it should, but drastically reduced my eyepiece's FOV). It also doesn't thread on properly to the bottom of my 1.25 inch eyepieces, or my 1.25 inch diagonal mirror. The focul reducer lens nearly fell into the optical tube. Will be making a return right away. I've used other SVBONY products like their eyepieces and phone-telescope adapters; this is the first disappointing product that I've purchased from them.

I'm trying to find the focus point while using it with an Orion 60mm guidescope and a ZWO 120 camera & 1.25 adapter. I ordered an Orion 1.25" extension tube. Maybe that will help but I'm not sure. For $11 the lens looks OK to me. Hopefully I'll be able to use it. If not I will try it with my eye pieces.
