Product Description

SV183 Telescope Filter

SVBONY SV183 IR Pass 685nm FilterInfrared filters. This is a good item for the moon and other planet, because sometimes the moon is too bright to see the details. Compatibility: Fit all 2 inches eyepieces with botton filter threads. And also fit some barlow lens with filter threads.

Differences before and after using the filter

Without filter and with filter

After using the filter, we can obviously see more details, The filter can darkens the twilight sky background, allowing images of moon and planets to be taken at dawn or dusk.

test transmission curves

The IR Pass filter blocks wavelengths below 670nm, reduce the effects of seeing when used in IR-LRGB imaging of the moon and planets.

IR Pass Filter

2-inch infrared filter

SV183 IR Pass 685nm filter, M48*0.75 thread, standard 2 inches can be connected with eyepieces or telescope cameras with the same thread to achieve the purpose of observation or shooting.

Good-quality coated filter

Good-quality coated filter

The SV183 uses high-quality coated filters and is made from lightweight, strong metal that is CNC machined, sandblasted, black anodized, and then laser engraved.

  • The filter lets you see the Moon and other planets more clearly by blocking some of the glare, sharpening details, and providing the right amount of contrast.

  • Since CCD and CMOS sensors are sensitive to infrared light, imaging in the infrared will improve your results. Reduce brightness to reasonable levels and see more planetary details by darkening the twilight sky background at dawn or dusk.

  • In addition to astronomical uses, IR-Pass filters can be used for near-infrared nature photography, revealing amazing differences in vegetation, sky, and clouds.

Well made and very effective at blocking all visible light.I will be using this filter with a ZWO ASI 462MC camera as an IR Pass guide scope camera. It will see occasional use as a moon camera with only IR passing through to the sensor

So I bought this for Deep Space Astrophotography to use as a super Lum filter to follow on from Ha and pick up anything I was not with my LRGB or narrowband filters. As any other Svbony filter product, this filter is build from milled aluminum and has glass lens and easily screws into a filter wheel or tray.for deep space a longer shot interval will be needed as this filter cuts way down not only LP but also is quite opaque to lesser intervals. it's effects are noticeable on the moon as more defining and contrast making shots (like the 1000 frame stack above) deeper and crisper after processing. In deep sky I use it for a super lum on planetary nebula and galaxies to further define contrast and sometimes pick up things you didnt even know were there, Galaxy hunting? this NIR filter will show you the smallest galaxy where others fail + you get nearly 50% more stars being registered in your star fields as this really makes them light up where you thought it was dark.A must have for the inquisitive astrophotographer or Moon enthusiast (prob planetary, but I dont go there). Thanks Svbony!

La primera imagen es con mi Sony a6000 y la segunda con una cámara dedicada IMX294. Buen filtro de paso infrarrojo para mitigar los efectos de un mal seeing 👌Recomendable.

There are some unremovable dirt spots on the filter glass. Added this filter in front of 2X Barlow in astrophotography and those spots can be seen clearly in the final image.
