It is very loud but worked well for me. I do not want to fuss with string trimmers any longer. So this was a good option for me. It was easy to set up and comfortable for me to use. I am older and have arthritis but this proved easy to operate for me.

This is the worst Weed wacker I have ever owned. I liked the idea it was stringless, lightweight and supposedly easy to use. I am a female and do all my own lawnwork. I had too many problems with the line ones breaking and having to rewind them midway. So decided to try this one out. This Sun Joe is a joke. I used it maybe 4 times, being very careful not to go near the edge of my sidewalk or high weeds after reading reviews how fast the plastic blade breaks down. Why is there a plastic blade and not a metal one which will last longer?? The very last time I used it, maybe the 4th time, it started out fine, then made a loud sqealing noise and voila just quit. I tried starting it up again because I thought it may have gotten overheated?? Nothing...I asked a friend who can repair/fix anything to see if he could get it going again. He worked on it for an hr and thought there was something caught between the blade and motor that got jammed. Nothing was caught. The blade would not turn even though it was not plugged in. He got it to start up for a couple of seconds making the worst noise ever, then it died. He came to the conclusion that the motor just quit. It was past the time to return. Never again would I buy a Sun Joe. I'll go back to the string ones and although they are a pain, at least they last more than this piece of junk. Don't waste your money. I'd rather use a pair of scissors, which I have at times. My scissors are still holding up, more than I can say about Sun Joe. I'd give this a zero rating if I could. Move on and buy a more worthwhile one. You will be disappointed with this Sun Joe.

I had one of these before and it worked great. I gave that one to my son then decided I still need one so bought new. The blade is so much more efficient than string, mostly because it cuts down thicker weeds. I’ve had some weeds probably half inch or more thick, takes em down like cutting butter. The blade on my old one did start to wear and ends broke off but probably from me hitting concrete wall. Blade is super easy to replace. I’d recommend this for anyone with big weeds. I don’t mind the extension cord since you can trim till you wear out not a battery. And I feel safer than gas.

Purchased this product at the end of April. The tool worked well for trimming the edges of the lawn after mowing. Yesterday, I tried it as an edger so I could clean up along the sidewalks and front walkway. There was about 100 feet to edge. The tool slowed down and failed after 12 feet. There was smoke coming out of the motor housing. This was the 5th use... I had used the tool weekly during May. I didn't expect the motor to burn out. There were no warning signs - it slowed down and I stopped to look at the tool. It's very disappointing because all of my other Sun Joe and Snow Joe purchases have been great. I have the battery powered lawn mower and battery powered snow blower, a leaf blower/vac and a pressure washer.

Super powerful ..Super Loud, but amazing. Very powerful and light. Wayy more powerful then expected and was easily able to chop through loads of large weed trees and carve out a clear edge to my lawn.

I got this along with a battery powered mower. I will say that I really wanted something with a blade / cordless combination and I think that exists, but this was within my price range at the time.I like the blade compared to an annoying line feeder system and it seems to stand up pretty well after a few uses. I have hit the wooden fence posts and some pieces of rock / concrete that are in the ground and the blade didn't suffer any major damage, but they were just grazing blows and not a full on strength test.Despite being electric this is really loud, it's like a remote control airplane or something. It is also very light weight but you have to get used to how to angle it to chop stuff down that is kind of thick and set the length right to make sure it is comfortable for you. Also the most obvious issue is it is corded. You have to find the best way for you to keep the cord out of the way, and make sure you can reach the areas you need to. The directions say to use a 100 ft maximum cord which is just long enough for where I need to use it. If you can afford a battery operated one that it works for you I recommend it, but overall it is pretty powerful and gets the job done with a tough blade instead of the constant adjustments of a system with a string feed.

Super easy to assemble, it's definitely not lightweight though. Now when I head lightweight I think oh it'll be perfect for my old dad to use when in fact it was too heavy. I'm a decently healthy female and I can use it but after an hour or two before my one forearm gets tense from holding it.I originally got this for my dad since he continued to break the weed whacker a that used the wire to cut, he'd break it somehow when he would try to add more wire.I thought this product would eliminate that issue but it just created a new one for him so I use this now as a weedwhacker.Overall it does a decent job at weedwhacking which isn't really the main use of this tool I think it's an edger/trimmer or something.Unfortunately since my house has a garden full of rocks (it also has flowers but has decent sized rocks in it scattered all over) I cant really use it to weed whack the weeds growing in the garden. So just be aware it's a single thick hard plastic blade instead of a flimsy wire that doesn't have enough weight to throw objects around. The safety button stopped working, you had to press in the button then pull the trigger for it to turn on but now that's always pressed down so now you press the trigger and it goes.
