I chose to purchase the weed wacker/edger because it is one of the lightest cordless options available, which is very important for me. Being 5'3" and weighing 110 lbs, I often find that many edgers and weed wackers are too heavy to use comfortably.I’ve found that this weed wacker is effective at cutting down weeds, and the edger performs admirably, especially for a non-gas, non-electric tool. It suits my needs perfectly as I have a small yard, allowing me to edge all my landscaping and lawn in one go without needing to recharge the battery. If the battery does run out, I appreciate that it only takes about 30 minutes to recharge. Additionally, the option to purchase a second battery or to use interchangeable batteries with other cordless Black+Decker equipment is a real plus. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and would not hesitate to buy it again.

I had a edger electric and I had it 8 years when I moved here from North Carolina. I live in Spokane. The edges are awesome. They're easy to use and they stand up on their own, which most don't do. They're a battery operated, will not stand up. This does stand up and works wonderful, the big surprise I. God, when I received the answer. Was they throw in an extra Blackdecker You guys are doing a good job outstanding. Edger really good

I already have a blower and trimmer that are plug in. Yes, the cord is a limitation but when considering the price, weight and power of plug in lawn care accessories it is totally worth going that route. This edger was easy to set up and figure out how to use. I was up and cleanly edging my sidewalk within a half hour. The B&D edger does a great job and is a very decent value for what it does.

No problems putting it together. Like the ability to adjust its length.Motor was powerful enough and did a good job with the edging.

Helps keep really clean lines along sidewalks, manage overgrowth, and keeps wiregrass at bay out of our garden beds. 3 springs/summers down. Still working.

My previous electric edger was a SunJoe. It finally gave up on me due to overwork and old age. I was completely satisfied with this product and was looking to replace it with the same product. Evidently SunJoe no longer offers this product.I decided to try the Black +Decker just because I know the reputation of the brand. I was not disappointed, in fact I was very pleased with the performance of this edger. It was more powerful and easier to manage while in use. It makes keeping the lawn looking clean cut a breeze. If you are looking for an electric edger I think you will be satisfied with this product.

This edger was easy to use. It has some weight in the motor so it stays down and cuts a good edge along the sidewalk. I hadn’t edged all summer so the turf was a little thick which caused it to clog up a bit. Easy fix, just unplug it and pull the grass and dirt out. It wasn’t a problem where the turf was thinner. I had read from some reviews that when putting the handle together, there was too much cord to get it together easily. No problem, just push the cord down into the handle part that’s attached to the motor. Gets the excess out of the way. The edger worked really well and made a dreaded job easy.

I pondered buying this and thought about gas as more portable ( no cords). Good gas machines are 2-3 times the cost, for something I use for 2 hrs a year. I cant justify the cost of gas edgers. The cords weren't a problem. The big brands only make cordless or gas, not electric. These are essentially skilsaws on wheels geared lower rpms, more torque and less danger and they draw up to 12 amps qt 120 VAC corded. How's a cordless going to compete with that in terms of torque and for 2 times the price. Glad I bought this for my house yard needs - fills the bill at reasonable cost.My only complaint is the wheels are chintzcy plastic and B&D could do better. They work but.

Had the old model for many years. This one is a little lighter, not quite as robust, but works like charm .nice straight grass lines as before.

Probably could've/should've rated this 2 stars yet it works well when it works. I purchased this edger to edge my drive and sidewalks and not for trenching. The edger arrived very quickly after I ordered it (I am not a Prime member so this was a nice surprise). Assembly was easy and straight-forward. The first use went smoothly and the edger performed flawlessly and provided clean, smooth edging. About 20 minutes into the second use I noticed that the edger was cutting and quickly determined that the blade was spinning freely -- fortunately the hex nut was still attached to the threaded shaft. I reviewed the manual that came with the edger, grabbed the correct sized socket and torque wrench. I removed the hex nut, the first washer, the blade and then the second washer. To install I followed the directions ensuring that the flats of the washer aligned with the flat on the shaft and tightened the hex nut to the specified 140 in-lbs. The edger worked well for about 10 minutes and the blade once again became loose. This time I replaced the original blade (which did not need to be replaced from a wear perspective) with a new B&D blade and new washers. Once again I followed the instructions and this time the edger performed flawlessly until about 5 minutes remaining in my edging when once again the blade came loose. my experience has most certainly been frustrating to say the least. one should not need to carry a socket and torque wrench with them and repeatedly need to tighten the blade. So, when the edger performs as intended it does an excellent job at edging; however I have no confidence that this edger will be able to perform as intended throughout repeated uses and more importantly has shown that it cannot complete my edging without requiring tightening the blade (which requires disassembly down to the second keyed washer). Potential buyers should be prepared for this experience and make your decision accordingly. Note: I tried contacting black and decker via twitter (@blackdeckerhome) and never received a response; I could not find a separate customer service/support twitter account. Trying to contact customer service via the phone these days is an exercise in patience to say the least.
