About SUIZAN's Chisel (About Japanese Wood Chisel)

SUIZAN chisels are called "Oiire Nomi" in Japan. They are used for construction work such as mortising, shaving, chopping, paring, and a variety of other woodworking tasks.

Designed for two types of use

"Oiire Nomi" is a versatile chisel that can be used either for hammering or for chiseling by hand.

It has a metal ring (steel hoop) at the end of the handle for hammering. To enable hand cutting, the blade is slightly thinner than those designed for hammering only.

"But the germans"."The Chinese are getting really good at it".Stop. Just stop.Bladed steel has been mastered by the japanese for centuries. Around the same time their alphabet was being created someone realized the bends in rivers cause minerals to build up in the sand there. This sand helps create the finest steel on earth. The Hanjo Musamane is a single sword credited with winning multiple wars and bringing about 250 years of peace in Japan. Ever seen "Shogun"? Yea. That guy. Not that smart. Not that cunning. He just happen to have a sword made by GOD.Anyway, you can't do better. Stop trying. You might have to strop the edge half a dozen times after unboxing, but other than that it's ready to go. Get one. No, get five. You won't be disappointed.

It's more than 1/8" tall, not quite mortise chisels level thick, but more than the width.

Super Preislleistungsverhältniss. Das Stemmeisen ist weist eine sehr gute Schärfe, für den Auslieferungszustand, auf und ist somit gebrauchsfertig. Getestet wurde das Eisen am Buchenholz, feine Späne losten sich beim nachputzen eines Zinken ohne Probleme abnehmen. Wer mehr Schärfe erreichen will, brauch nur die Spiegelseite und die Mikrophase polieren, ich werd das auf jeden Fall noch machen und habe 2 weitere Eisen bereits nachbestellt.
