Well I gave it a 4 star for only reason I have not used it at this time. Let me say I,m a retired machinist. My opinion isIt is very well made. It seems to be made of high speed steel, not carbon steel first & formost. If run at correct speed& correct lubricant it should last a reasonable time.

Edited again 12/17/2024, down to 0 stars. The countersinks become "stepped" even with light use in steel. Probably made of cheap steel or not tempered correctly.I truly regret this purchase. I was trying to save a few bucks, and the reports on quality seemed good at a good price. Waste of money and time.OTOH, I have NEVER regreted spending too much money on a high-quality tool, no matter how expensive.Edited 11-29-2024 from 2 stars to 1 star. These step drills barely cut mild sheet steel. They smoke a lot. And they keep getting duller.The fluted countersinks are prone to chatter. The style with the hole work way better.The spring-loaded center punch is junk. The tip is soft and rounds off. The click mechanism is not smooth.A disappointing purchase, for sure.But the padded case is decent. I'll give them that. The rest will be in the garbage soon.

Looks ok work on soft material fine, but will it work on harder material that is to be seen so far recommended

I built a smokeless fire pit and had to drill 52 holes around the top. I pre drilled 1/4" holes and used the unit to get to 1/2", but they bit burnt and dulled after 28 of them. also the center punch barely put a tiny mark on the places to be drilled. I had to use the one I already had to do this job. past time to return or I would have.

Let's be honest. These are cheap. And I expected cheap. But they cut through steel like it's nothing!! I must say, I'm quite impressed

got this set for a very specific need -- worked great -- put them aside thinking i'd probably never use them again -- but have run into three more situations where i found them to be very handy -- very sharp -- just have to have a firm grip on your drill and work slowly -- they can grab on and try to pull the bit through --
