Seems that "Made in the USA" strikes again and a whole batch of these (4-22mm HSS version) missed going through laser engraving. That means no indicator of the hole sizes on the tool, or what the part number is in the future for easy replacement. Two out of two had this problem.

I've made about 5 1" holes with no pilot hole through 1/4 steel with plenty of cutting lube, the bit cuts well and is still sharp though showing some signs of wear. It got the job done although the holes are not very clean and require some filing or grinding. I will be switching to rotobroaches for future project now that I bit the bullet on a larger set.

Having purchased one of the chinese "titanium coated" offerings, which arrived half worn out, and was promptly returned for refund, decided to spend a bit more and ordered the original step bit. When it arrived I was not immediately wowed by its appearance. Tried it on some hardwood - very good neat hole, suitable for some limited counterboring. Fast forward 3 weeks and I needed a some 10mm stainless washers. Only ones I had were 8mm, tried drilling one out with hss cobalt twist bit, hopeless. Suddenly remembered this step bit, and 5 mins later half a dozen 10mm washers completed. Checked the step bit, and can see no wear or damage at all. I know it won't last forever but highly recommended.

Works great for what I needed. Cutting metric holes in a sheet of 1/8 inch acrylic.

I can finally Review this!! I asked in so many forums (Overclock.net [The Cautious One] ) because I own a Caselabs Sma8 (Enthusiast Computer Case Made in California from Thick Aluminum) and needed to drill holes through the midplate to route tubing from the top section of the case to the lower compartment. Used and Freehand drill and Drillpress with this product and worked A1. Excellent craftsmanship and not a flaw in the design. A little pricey at 30USD but worth something that doesn't slip and goes through like butter.

I'm an electrician working downtown in a steal frame new construction building and have to punch many holes and this does the trick. Great for the middle being longer to note its at a 7/8 hole that is perfect for out MC connectors we use.
